What's the most you've lost sending crypto to wrong wallet address?

honstly these situations are more common than people think in crypto. even experienced users have made expensive mistakes at least once.
That’s brutal. Mine wasn’t $10k, but I once sent crypto to the wrong address after copying it from my clipboard without double-checking. Expensive lesson learned: always verify the first and last few characters, no matter how small the transaction seems.

I guess this is a general knowlege, but since i began using crypto i heard that you always need to confirm the first and last 6 digits of the wallet (and not the entire code for the wallet), i think because those are the most difficult or impossible to change... i don't if that's true or not, but never made any mistake and always done that.

You are lucky that it wasn't more than $450. Making that kind of mistake with a huge amount of money would be terrible for the person.

This happened to me last year, due to a mistake while pasting the address, where the last letter was replaced with a (V) for my hosting bill around $720

Not exactly "poisoning" like OP, but I sent a few hundred dollars worth of GNO to binance on Gnosis chain while they only accepte Ethereum chain. No way to get them back as per their T&C... Was enraged.
How did they find your wallet address? Were you trying to double your money on a random website?

Did you try to send to someone else or yourself ? Because is hard to believe how was that fishing work on your own adresses but if is to someone else is understable......

no, I haven't shared my address anywhere, I think they just look at the transaction history and choose the addresses with money
Honestly, that's scary. Everyone needs to be very careful when making transactions.

Losing $10k to a wallet-address scam is rough. My worst crypto mistake was trusting a project that looked solid, only for it to collapse. Expensive lesson, but it made me much more careful.

I have been scammed three times = Once because of a discord bug where user can have the same name as mod. I sent him money to buy an nft. It was around 100$
Second time I sent 40$ to an exchange because it's discord was filled with people benefiting from pump and dump. I did profitted in the exchange but to withdraw they were asking for more deposit.
third time I spent 300$ to buy nfts from gate.io and the nft distributor went afk .. with no updates regarding nft. I contacted support and they said they bear no responsibility over it.
