yeah Airalo is usually the safer pick if you just need data. Holafly works too but tends to cost a bit more, and make sure the phone is unlocked or it’ll just be a headache...
 
Airalo has worked fine for me across most of EU, never had issues with the data side. one thing nobody mentioned is coverage actually varies by country even with the same provider, so check the specific network they piggyback on before you buy. for short trips Airalo, but if you're staying longer sometimes a local sim at the airport ends up cheaper than any eSIM. and yeah... unlocked phone or none of this matters lol
 
if you just need data check out mobimatter, they aggregate different packages and it usually ends up cheaper than airalo. but keep in mind most of these travel esims are data only. if you actually need a real phone number for sms verification or setting up accounts, airalo or holafly wont work. you would need something like tello for US or a local physical sim that allows roaming. would help to know if you need sms or just data...
 
Tello can be activated outside US , just use a USA-IP vpn for that. And it costs only 5 dollars per month.
 
For pure internet I’d go Mobimatter first, then Airalo if price difference is small. Holafly only makes sense if you really need “unlimited”, but read fair usage because unlimited often not really unlimited lol. If this is for receiving sms / account verification, don’t waste time with travel eSIMs, they are mostly data only. Tello is decent for US number but for EU numbers local sim is still less headache imo.
 
Honestly half the answers here are guessing cause @Nathanael1321 never said if its data or an actual number. Whole thread splits on that.

One thing nobody touched... install the eSIM before you leave while you still got wifi. A lot of people land, no data, cant scan the QR or load the app and then its a mess. Set it up at home, just dont activate the plan till you arrive if the provider lets you delay the start.

For Tello yeah it works abroad but heads up you sometimes need a US card to top it up, the VPN trick helps for activation but billing can still be picky. If its just data mobimatter or airalo is fine like the others said. And check the carrier it rides on per country, coverage really isnt the same everywhere even on one provider.
 
Like others said depends if you need a number or just data, you never really clarified. But adding to the data side... if your phone is dual sim you can keep your home sim in for whatsapp/sms and just use the travel esim for data, that way you dont lose your usual number while abroad. Saves the whole verification headache.

Also one thing that bites people, sometimes the data wont work even after install till you punch in the APN manually. Airalo usually auto configures but ive seen mobimatter ones need it done by hand. Worth checking their setup page before you panic that the plan is broken.
 
One major thing to watch out for if you are using these for stealth or managing accounts... travel esims like airalo often route your traffic through random countries. Like you could be physically in the UK but your IP shows up as Poland or Singapore. That completely ruins your IP trust score if you are trying to run ads or manage ebay/stripe. If @Nathanael1321 is doing this for marketing or stealth stuff, stick to a local physical sim or a clean residential proxy. Travel esims are only good for basic tourist browsing imo.

I use voidmob, they allow to select IP before purchase. But to be honest, why you don't use proxies? I mean eSIM is mobile IP yes, but they serve other use cases rather than creating accounts.
 
For normal travel data I usually check esimdb before buying, it shows same plans from different resellers and you can compare per country. Nomad is another one worth checking, sometimes cheaper than Airalo depending where you go.

Small thing people forget: check if hotspot/tethering is allowed. Some “unlimited” eSIMs block it or throttle hard after few GB, so if you plan to work from laptop it matters.

If this is for sms or account stuff, nah, don’t rely on travel eSIM. Get a proper local prepaid or keep your home sim active for codes. travel data eSIMs are good for browsing/maps, not for identity/verification headaches.
