I'm still learning my way around Internet Marketing, and I've observed that there are so many approaches (SEO, social media, affiliate marketing, automation, etc.) that it can be daunting at first. I'd want to ask experienced members here: • What free methods or practices helped you better comprehend IM at the start? • Did you research case studies, conduct tiny experiments, or follow a specific approach? I'm not looking to sell anything or promote links; instead, I'm hoping to learn from the real-world experiences posted here. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to share .

You are correct, digital marketing is broad. It can take you years to grasp. I started with keyword research using Semrush, Google Trends, and Google Keyword Tool.
Then I practiced how to write search engine-optimized articles. I created a Blogger blog using these articles. I learnt on and off-page search engine optimization and applied it to the Blogger blog.
The fastest way to learn is by doing it and making mistakes. When I was done with the Blogger blog, I moved to a real WordPress blog, and this time I worked on a small Amazon affiliate niche blog.
You will be monitoring your keyword rankings and visibility using Google Search Console. It normally takes months to start seeing organic traffic and probably sales in your Amazon Associate account. When you reach this level, you can move on to social media marketing and so forth.

I started by learning free basics from blogs and YouTube, then ran small experiments on my own projects, which helped me understand internet marketing far better than theory alone.

You can watch YouTube or Udemy courses for basic knowledge.
When I started, what helped most was testing small free methods instead of trying everything at once. I’d pick one area (like SEO or social media), study case studies, then run tiny experiments to see what actually works. Tracking results and staying consistent made the biggest difference. Learning by doing beats theory every time.

YouTube, Reddit, Google, and even using AI chatbots to ask questions about SEO (while also doing manual follow up research) helped me out.

The fastest way to master IM is picking one small niche, building a simple asset, and running real micro experiments while studying actual case studies on forums like BHW or Reddit instead of consuming endless theory.

What helped me the most was picking one area—SEO in my case—and building a small project to experiment with. Reading case studies was useful, but I learned much more by testing things myself, using free resources like Google's documentation, and tracking what actually worked. Starting small and staying consistent made the learning process much less overwhelming.
