Yeah, basically that. When people say “if Google detect it”, they usually mean footprints, same hosting, same CMS setup, same link pattern, same thin content, that kind of stuff. The link itself isn’t cursed or anything, but once the network looks manufactured, the value can drop fast and sometimes the whole thing just gets devalued.

So the “tactics” are really about making the sites look unrelated and not sloppy... but once you start needing too many tricks, that’s usually the sign the setup is too noisy anyway.

That word, devalued, is the part the whole thread is dancing around, and it flips the question.

Everyone is answering "will Google DETECT it" like the risk is a manual penalty. In 2026 that is rarely what happens. SpamBrain just quietly zeroes the link's weight and moves on: no Search Console notice, no manual action to appeal, your rankings simply do not move. Google says it plainly, when their systems remove the effect of spammy links, any benefit those links gave you is gone. There is nothing to get caught by, so "did I hide the footprint" is the wrong exam.

Same hosting and spun content do not mainly get you penalised, they mark the network as low-trust so SpamBrain discounts it by default. The footprint is a symptom, not the crime. A clean-footprint PBN on expired domains nobody visits still passes almost nothing, because there is no real trust or crawl attention to pass. A link on a page Google actually crawls and trusts survives, footprint or not.

So the useful question is not "will I get caught," it is "does this page have any trust to pass in the first place." If the answer is no, the cleanest footprint in the world will not save it. It is also why the June spam update flattened whole networks while real placements barely moved.

And they're shit because the people who sell these links put almost ZERO effort into their blogs/sites.

They're all AI generated slop which doesn't attract readers or google.

So, you'll get a bunch of useless links which ''might'' send you 3 visitors a month.

PBN links are risky mainly because they are built to manipulate rankings instead of earning natural authority if the network gets detected, the value of those links can disappear.
