Hi everyone,
I've been following how YouTube search and recommendations continue to evolve, and it seems that some optimization techniques are becoming more effective than others.
For those actively growing YouTube channels:
Which YouTube SEO factors have had the biggest impact for you?
How much importance do you place on titles, thumbnails, watch time, and audience retention?
Have you changed your strategy this year?
I'd love to hear what others are seeing.

You didn't mention grinding out regularly good content. I think thats 90% of results there. Rest is meh.

For me, audience retention has been the biggest factor. A strong hook in the first 30 seconds, combined with clear titles and thumbnails, seems to outperform keyword optimization alone.

from my experience optimizing videos on youtube is not about findiing the right formula. it is about being able to understand how viewers react. it may be easy to have a great title nd thumbnail but the real magic happens when ur viewers stay nd actually engage with u. this year my focus has been on retention nd trying to make videos that provide a quick response to what the vieewer wants to know.

Titles and thumbnails drive clicks, watch time and retention trigger recommendations, making keyword SEO secondary to viewer retention. :)

Publishing consistently has helped my channel grow steadily. The algorithm and viewers benefit from a consistent upload schedule because it keeps them interested.

We’ve shifted our focus from traditional SEO to viewer satisfaction. Titles and thumbnails still matter, but retention and watch time have become the strongest indicators of long-term performance. That’s where we’ve seen the biggest gains.

watch time and audience retention are what determine whether YouTube pushes the video further after the initial click. most people underestimate how much the first 30 seconds matter for retention.

For me audience retention and click througgh rates made the biggest difference. Strong thumbnails and titles also get clicks but keep the viewers watching is actually what helps videos get recommended.

Titles and thumbnails matter first but retention is what really keeps a video growing
It is a very important factor that influences how many more users will the video be recommended to.

Keyword SEO now only drives initial search traffic, 90% of growth relies on CTR and Audience Retention Watch Time to trigger YouTube's recommendation algorithm.

there has been a huge shift in this. in the past the focus was on keywords nd optimization but today it is all about providing the best possible content experience. while the importance of titles nd thumbnails remaiins unchanged, it is the abillity to keep the viewer on ur channel interact with them nd make them watch more videos which really counts.

Titles and thumbnails get people in but the video itself is what makes the difference

For me, the ability to retain viewers is the most important factor. Good titles and thumbnails will attract clicks, but if viewers don't watch the entire video, YouTube will stop recommending it. I also started focusing more on proven content formats instead of just optimizing keywords and click-through rate (CTR) to attract viewers, while watch time helps maintain recommendations.

I'm new to YouTube SEO and still learning, but I think these things are important:

• Good titles
• Clear thumbnails
• Increased viewer retention
• Regular video uploads

Which of the things I mentioned has made the biggest difference for your channel?

In my opinion, the main difference is that the YT SEO has now become much more about audience behavior, rather than mere optimization on keywords. Sure, gud keywords and a good title might attract viewers and get them to open your video, but what will make them keep watching your videos is the something else. The progress in the channels I've observed was mostly driven by analysing retention losses.
