Do Longer TikTok Videos Keep Viewers Engaged Better Than Short Clips?

Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that more creators are experimenting with longer TikTok videos instead of only posting short, fast paced clips.
Do you think longer videos are now better for audience engagement and growth, or do shorter videos still perform best overall?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Short fifteen to thirty second clips are still king for algorithmic reach and viral follower growth, while videos over one minute build deep engagement, maximize monetization, and convert loyal fans, so veterans combine short hooks for reach with longer content for community building. :D

both can work but it depends on the content.

shorter videos are still great for reach, while longer videos often build better watch time and stronger audience engagement when they keep viewers interested until the end.

Longer videos can be more engaging however, this is only possible if the additional tym brings some value to the viewer. In many cases, short videos were more engaging compared to long ones just because of the shorter time needed to convey the information. the most efficient strategy would be trying various video durationns on the same subject.

Short videos remain king for rapid viral reach, but longer videos are key for building a loyal fanbase and maximizing RPM, the best strategy is using short clips for broad discovery and long videos for deep retention.

I think content quality matters more than the actual video length. If a longer video stays engaging from beginning to end people are more likely to keep watching. Short videos are great for getting quick attention but longer ones can explain things better and build a stronger connection with viewers.
