Hiring a Skilled Long-Term Video Editor — Recurring Website and Client Work

I run a growing video marketing business and am looking for a dependable video editor for an ongoing working relationship.

This is not a one-time job. The editor I select will initially help complete videos for my own website and brand. If the quality, communication and reliability are strong, the role may expand into recurring client work.

I will provide the overall creative direction, brand references and project requirements. I need an editor who can follow that direction carefully, exercise good judgment and produce polished work without requiring constant supervision.

Projects may include:

• Website and landing-page videos
• Talking-head and authority videos
• Short-form social content
• Promotional and service videos
• Product or demonstration videos
• Repurposed clips from longer footage
• AI-generated footage that requires human editing and refinement

The exact scope will vary by project.

Editing quality I am looking for​

The work should feel clean, modern, intentional and professionally finished.

Depending on the project, this may include:

• Strong pacing and removal of unnecessary pauses
• Clear visual storytelling
• Relevant B-roll selection and placement
• Clean captions and text animation
• Professional audio cleanup and balancing
• Music and sound effects used with restraint
• Color correction and visual consistency
• Tasteful motion graphics and transitions
• Correct formatting for websites and social platforms
• Careful quality control before delivery

I am not looking for excessive effects, random transitions or editing that feels busy simply for the sake of appearing impressive. Every editing choice should support clarity, retention or the purpose of the video.

Compensation and working structure​

This is paid work.

Please quote your normal rate based on the example scopes requested below. I am considering editors from different locations and experience levels, so I am not posting an arbitrary hourly budget before reviewing the quality and efficiency of each applicant.

Shortlisted applicants may be offered the same small paid test edit using identical footage and instructions.

The test is not free work and will not be used as a completed client deliverable.

If selected, the working relationship will begin one project at a time. Payment will be tied to clearly defined milestones or completed deliverables. Larger advances or long-term retainers will only be considered after reliability and quality have been established through actual projects.

Consistent performance can lead to recurring monthly work and additional client projects.
