I'm planning to launch a new blog and I'm curious to hear from bloggers who have built a profitable website without relying heavily on Google search traffic

If you've done it, I'd love to know
  • Which traffic sources worked best for you? (Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook Reddit LinkedIn email marketing, direct traffic etc.
  • How did you monetize your blog?
  • How long did it take before you started seeing consistent income
  • What advice would you give to someone just starting in 2026?
Looking forward to hearing your experiences strategies and lessons learned!

I think monetization depends on the niche. Some blogs do well with ads, while others make more from affiliate products or services.

From what I've seen, blogs that do well without Google usually build a loyal audience through email newsletters, YouTube, Pinterest or social media. My advice is to focus on creating genuinely helpful content, be consistent and don't expect quick results-steady effort over time is what leads to long-term traffic and income.

I Never depended much on Google, Short YouTube videos and Facebook group's brought my first regular visitors, and I monetized with affiliate offers plus a few display ads, My advice is to stick with one traffic source until you understand how it work's.

for me i use direct traffic and it has been helping a lot just focus on the site you know you have more chance in getting leads

the first piece of advice i would give would be to start distributing ur content right from the get go. bloggers that have been bloggiing for a long time tend to make the mistake of focusing on writiing for months without thinkking about how to distribute the content. an active list or community can be more important than any number of pageviews.

I focused on YouTube, Reddit, and email instead of Google. Most income comes from affiliates. It took about a year to become consistent. Build a brand and never rely on one traffic source.

I think new bloggers should focus on one traffic source first instead of trying everything. Learn what works and then expand.

I never depended much on Google for traffic. Most of my visitors came from Pinterest, email, and social media.Iearned through affiliate links, sponsored content, and my own digital products. It took around a year before the income became steady.

I stopped depending on Google and focused on building an audience through email, YouTube, and niche communities. Income came from affiliate marketing, digital products, and sponsorships, and it took around 10 to 12 months to become consistent. My advice is to own your audience, publish consistently, and diversify your traffic from day one.

Email lists and communities can be underrated too building an audience you can reach anytime is valuable when search traffic changes.

Yes, you can build a profitable blog without Google traffic by using platforms like Pinterest, YouTube, social media, and email marketing. The key is to attract a loyal audience and monetize through ads, affiliate marketing, or digital products.

I do not think Google is the only option anymore, If you can build an audience through email social platforms or a community you are not depending on search updates all the time It may take longer but it feels more stable.

Pinterest and email marketing are the most underrated Google-free traffic sources Pinterest drives consistent long-term traffic like SEO but without the algorithm anxiety, and email converts better than any other channel. Most bloggers building this way hit consistent income around 12-18 months, with affiliate marketing and digital products outperforming ads significantly.

I remember reading one experience somewhere on some forum where the blog owner made very good profit with some astrology related blog. He did not rely on Google traffic at all.

I remember reading this post about 5-8 years back and a lot has changed since that time.

I focused on Pinterest, LinkedIn, and email instead of depending on Google traffic. Most of my income came from affiliate marketing and selling digital products. It took around a year before the income became steady. My biggest tip is to grow an email list early and diversify your traffic sources.

A blog doesn't have to rely entirely on Google. Building a loyal audience through communities, referrals, and email marketing can create steady growth.

Try growing your audience past Google, email, YouTube, Pinterest, and Reddit can work really well. Really, don’t rely only on search traffic, branch out a little, keep posting too . Diversify income with affiliate links and digital products, then stay steady and consistent, even when results feel slow .

I’d focus on building an email list and sharing helpful content on platforms like LinkedIn, Pinterest or YouTube instead of depending only on Google. Consistency and solving real problems matter more than chasing traffic and income usually grows gradually through affiliate marketing, digital products, or services.
