The folks over at SE Ranking have analysed over 50k commercial keywords over 20 niches, and using data from June 30th 2026 came up with ads showing on around a third of AI mode outputs for them. Ads seem to come in pairs (I suppose the offer of choice makes the end user more likely to click one), and the higher the CPC the more likely it is that an ad will be shown (~53% of keywords with CPC over $10 triggered ads).
Other info of interest was of all advertisers shown in AI mode, only around 15% of them were actually ranking in organic results. Full study can be perused here: https://seranking.com/blog/google-ai-mode-ads/
Also, anyone else also using the 'summarize this blog post with'-type links on their sites? I'd recommend you don't use the same query that the SE Ranking site is using
