Is Core Web Vitals actually a ranking factor still in 2026?

I'm actually curious about Core Web Vitals we usually check them using Google's PageSpeed Insights tool, but are Core Web Vitals really a ranking factor, or are they just a Google talking point? Also, is it relatively easy to fix Core Web Vitals issues on Wordpress websites? I'm curious how developers optimize them on custom coded websites and other CMS platforms, where it seems like it would be much more challenging.

I think Core Web Vitals matter, but they are not the only thing that decides rankings. Good content and a strong website still matter more.

I believe Google rankings are also a factor, as they directly impact user experience and conversion rates.
 
Yes, Core Web Vitals still matter, but they are only one part of SEO. Content and overall site quality still play a bigger role.
 
Fast speed helps your ranking a little, but good content matters much more. WordPress users can fix speed with basic plugins, while custom websites require manual coding.

They still matter, but they're not the biggest ranking factor. Good content and relevance usually have a much bigger impact than a perfect Core Web Vitals score.
 
i am not sure how developers optimize them on custom coded but i am sure that a good content and site structure will help

Yeah, I've seen websites with highly informative high quality content that rank very well even though their Core Web Vitals are poor. They're still ranking despite having weak Core Web Vitals.

Yeah, I thought the same. It feels so technical that I keep wondering how people optimize custom coded websites. But from what I've seen, most custom coded websites are already pretty fast.
 
It is still important, but I don't see it as a major ranking factor.

Good content, strong authority, and solid technical SEO usually have a much bigger impact on rankings. Core web vitals are more about improving the overall user experience.

For WordPress, most issues are fairly easy to fix with the right setup. On custom built websites, it usually takes more development work, but the goal is the same.
 
I think it still matters, but only as a small part of the overall picture. I have seen pages with average Core Web Vitals outrank faster sites because the content was simply better.

That’s right. Core Web Vitals serve more like a tie-breaker, rather than ranking trick. As long as you have relevant content for the user's query and the website is authoritative enough, cwv,won't matter that much for the rankings.
 
they still matter but i wouldn't consider Core Web Vitals the primary ranking factor in 2026 they contribute to a better user experience which can indirectly support seo however high quality content search intent topical relevance and overall site authority generally have a much bigger impact on rankings than CWV scores alone
 
Once a site meets a good user experience standard, content quality, relevance,backlinks usually have a bigger impact on rankings.
 
An engaging layout and compelling content that truly attracts quality viewers I believe this is far more effective than mere rankings.
 
Yes, it is. But that's like asking whether a white car really helps you save fuel on hot days. It has about the same level of usefulness.

Core Web Vitals do matter, but they're rarely the deciding ranking factor on their own. On WordPress, many issues can be improved with caching, image optimization, and a lightweight theme. On custom sites, it usually comes down to better code, asset optimization, and efficient rendering.
 
Don't think of it as a ranking factor but think of it from a visitors POV. will you visit a website that is taking 4-5 minutes to load? people bounce in 3 seconds. + if everyone leaves your site immediately, google will demote you anyway because of bad user signals.
