Hi everyone,

how many posts & pages should a new website launch with?

I'm trying to figure out the right amount of content to publish before getting a new site indexed, without running into any risk of Google's "scaled content abuse" signals.

I've seen two very different opinions:

- Some say it's only safe to launch small, just 6–12 solid core posts and pages, and grow from there.
- Others say they launch with 100+ posts right out of the gate and seem to have no issues.

5+ pages and 30+ posts its the bare minimum. Keep adding consistently for the website to yield results.
 
to me number of post is not really necessary but the quality of what you want to post and the site structure is the best to get started with
 
Launch 10 to 20 high quality pages and posts. It looks natural, is easier to manage, and you can keep adding useful content regularly over time.
 
I usually start a new site with around 10–20 well written pages and posts that cover the main topics and are linked together properly. After the site starts getting indexed, I publish new content on a regular schedule. From what I have seen, content quality and topical relevance are far more important than launching with a large number of posts.
 
20-30 quality posts is a safe sweet spot, enough to establish authority without spreading yourself thin.

The number doesn't matter as much as the quality. Google penalizes low-value mass content, not large volumes of genuinely useful posts. So 100+ can work if every piece is unique and helpful.

I prefer starting smaller and scaling up keeps quality high and risk low.

The number of posts isn't the issue, quality is. A site can launch with 10 pages or 100+ pages without problems, as long as the content is unique, valuable, and not mass-produced just to manipulate rankings.
 
I don't think there's a magic number anymore. I'd rather launch with 15 to 30 genuinely useful articles that cover the main topics of the niche than rush out 100 average ones. If the content is original, well structured, and internally linked, Google has no reason to treat it as scaled abuse just because of the quantity. After launch I'd keep publishing consistently every week instead of disappearing for months. That steady growth has worked better for me than trying to impress Google with a huge content dump on day one.
 
Quality beats quantity at launch 15 to 20 well-structured, genuinely helpful posts is the sweet spot that signals legitimacy without triggering scaled content flags. Make sure each post targets a distinct keyword and covers the topic thoroughly before you even think about scaling up.
 
I've launched with about 15-20 posts and it worked fine. Google doesn't care about the number as long as the content is solid and not just filler. Start small, add more later.
 
Doesn’t matter if you are not ranking for any of them on the first page you could have millions of posts, and 50 posts all ranking in the top 3, which is going to be considered more authoritative and provide traffic.
 
I'd rather launch with 10–20 solid posts than 100 rushed ones. Quality, topical coverage, and consistency have mattered more than the initial post count in my experience.
