My client's TikTok account was banned with no explicit reason given.

They're a food and cocktail-related account, and I think it was caused by alcohol mentions, which is allowed but a grey area. All our posts either included a food and drink recipe or a history of alcohol over the years.

Has anyone experienced something similar or know how I could prevent this from happening again?

Because of the lack of information, we may leave TikTok and stick with Instagram and YouTube Shorts.

You are not alone. Many creators in this niche have reported similar unexplained bans, so your experience isn’t isolated.
Even though alcohol-related content is only GH and is partly allowed on TikTok, accounts can get flagged due to things like repeated alcohol keywords, visuals of pouring/drinking, or being mistakenly categorized as promotional content.
You can try:
  • Add on-screen disclaimers like “For educational purposes only” or “21+”.
  • Avoid showing active drinking; focus more on ingredients, preparation steps, or historical context.
  • Diversify wording in captions/hashtags and avoid repetitive alcohol-related keywords.

You can consult me more via tele @bhmckjp and I can help you more

Thanks for replying, your bullet point tips were especially helpful, I'll message you if we need further assistance

Update to this thread, my client raised a chat support request and luckily got their account back!

Although after this experience, we're focusing on Instagram and YouTube Shorts instead.

Have they been given an explicit reason? Very interesting story, would appreciate if you share

Is this good for you?
When a customer's TikTok account is banned (temporarily or permanently), they should urgently check in-app notifications, identify the cause of the violation (content, copyright, spam), and submit a complaint via "Inbox" or support email within 30 days for a chance of recovery.

Nope, no reason given for the ban (just a vague you breached guidelines) or the reinstatement. Lack of transparency and performance is why we're focusing on other platforms for our niche.

my client also account banned :(

Get them to request help with a chatbox! It comes up near the "forgotten password" section, apparently. Worked for my client and might work for you :)

It's good that you guys managed to recover it. Currently, TikTok's support is not very effective, and it is rarely possible to restore an account in this way. We usually perform these services through the media partner portal, but it is not public and ordinary users cannot access it. To secure your account, you can verify it, which will make the account stronger and more stable, but only in the case of false bans by TikTok's algorithms. If someone purposely wants to ban you, they can still do so, even if your account has a blue tick.
