I’m a content creator who mainly posts YouTube Shorts, and I’ve noticed a common issue in this space: while Shorts can get good views, converting those views into link clicks is much harder. Direct or aggressive calls to action often reduce watch time, which can limit distribution by the algorithm. Many creators struggle to balance maintaining high retention while still guiding interested viewers toward links in their profile or pinned comments. I’m looking for practical, platform-safe techniques that help increase clicks without negatively affecting performance.

Links in shorts almost never work conversion wise. It's a dead method.

A great technique is using a 'Visual Bridge' instead of a vocal CTA. Instead of telling people to click, use a 2-second on-screen arrow pointing to the 'Related Video' link or your profile handle during the most exciting part of the video. This piques curiosity without breaking the 'flow' or reducing retention.

Soft CTA works best

Tease the benefit early and say link is there without begging. Pinned comment plus profile link beats saying click now

Make your content interesting, trigger urgency to the viewers.

Sure Here’s a short, clear English version (3 lines):

Shorts give views easily, but clicks are hard because aggressive CTAs hurt retention.
Use soft tactics: delay the CTA, create curiosity, and rely on visuals or pinned comments instead of direct selling.
Don’t ask for clicks—make viewers want to click.

Just go ahead and put it in the title like I do. The link. You'd be surprised at how effective it is. People are curious species naturally. Some more then others haha. Use that to your own advantage.

Tease valuable extra content in the Short, then let viewers know they can find the full guide or resource through the link in your profile.

I think it becomes easy if we give something useful to viewers first and then mention the link at the end of the video. People are more likely to click when they are already interested instead of feeling like that you are trying to sold something.

The majority of shorts users will be in the discovery stage, and so it is not easy to expect direct clicks through each view. My experience has taught me that better outcomes can be achieved if you create an element of mystery within the short, followed by linking to your webssite as the obvious choice.

It has helped me that the short can stand alone but at the same time gives the sense that there is one more example or template. this helps avoid interrupting the viewer nd leaving the social media platform. Those ppl who have a genuine interest will be motivated to click since they woulld be curious rather than having been told to do so.

I have found that soft calls to action work better than pushing links too often Focus on creating curiosity first then naturally guide interested viewers to your profile or description

instead of using the CTA as my ultimatte objective for the short i chose to concentrate on ensuring that the message is engaging enough to make the viewers interestted in finding out more after watching the video. Using the CTA at the end of the video along with an apropriate description of myself has yielded better results than using clicks.

Yeah 100% agree, because humans are curious creatures and this spikes their curiosity.
