Does Domain Age Still Matter for SEO in 2026?

In my experience, domain age matters much less than content quality and topical authority. I've seen new domains rank well when everything else is done right.

I've ranked new domains in under 6 months by targeting long-tail keywords first. Aged domains only help if they already have relevant authority.

I don't think domain age is a ranking factor by itself anymore. What matters is the history behind the domain its backlink profile, trust, topical relevance, and whether it has been maintained well.

An aged domain can give you a head start if it has a clean history, but age alone won't outrank a better website.

I've seen brand new domains rnak surprisingly well with strong content, topical authority, and quality backlinks. AN aged domain can help with trust, but it's definitely not a replacement for good SEO.
 
I think age is more of a trust shortcut than a magic ranking factor. Like, an older domain usually has links and history already, but a new site with useful content and clean basics can still move pretty well.
 
The age of the domain is not relevant but an older domains can still have backlinks and authority that will help your website rank higher in this case
 
Domain age alone doesn't do nothing, but if you have a backlink history attached to that domain, then when you purchase it'll make a big difference.
