I'm trying to regain access to an old Gmail account created years ago.

- I remember the correct password
- I even have access to the recovery email

But Gmail is only giving me the recovery phone # option and i no longer have access to the number and im not getting the option to use the recovery email.

I read a few posts online that says once there is a phone number linked, Gmail will use that as the recovery option...

Another post said if the number has been disconnected the recovery email option will become available if I select forgot password.

I've tried every possible option provided by Gmail to recover the account and they keep putting me through the same loop.

Is there any way to trigger the recovery email option? How can I do that?

I really hope someone here has figured this out.

My last resort might be to call that number and hope an old lady answers.

i once had that, but i also had an super old device (tablet) that was still half-logged in (as in, got soft kicked to re-enter pw) and it showed me a complete different recovery list not just what they wanted from me.

From experience, it can't be fixed. This is Google's latest strengthened risk control, and unless you can verify with your original number, you'll just have to give up on it.
