I think in 2026 keyword research is less about finding high volume keywords and it is more about understanding what users want. so I check search results, forums and related questions before choosing a topic.
In my opinion, the process of conducting keyword researchh in 2026 involves much more about gap analysis than collecting keywords. Typically, I analyze how and why the existing results are ranking, what challenges are facing the users, and whether there is an opportunity to offer them someething more valuable.

keyword research has changed a lot over the years but I still like to keep it simple first understand your audience then look at the questions people are asking and focus on keywords that actually have value tools can help but i would not rely only on numbers check the search results understand user intent and create useful content around topics that people genuinely need

There is not one "best" method anymore. In 2026, the most effective keyword research starts with understanding what your audience is actually trying to achieve not just finding high volume keywords.
I usually combine Google Search, Search Console, AI tools, Reddit discussions and competitor analysis to identify real search intent then organize keywords into topic clusters instead of focusing on individual terms. That approach has been much more effective than chasing search volume alone.
I believe that keyword research is becoming less of a focus on searching for keywords and more of an effort to understand the right user problems. I tend to analyse the patterns from SERPs, forums, and competitor analysis since this appronach leads to valuable content.
