I still use long-form content, but selectively, tied to intent rather than length as a default. It works best for TOFU and pillar-style content, where the goal is topical authority. I structure these around a single primary intent and layer in closely related subtopics and entities the user would naturally need answered next. This lets one page capture a cluster of long-tail keywords without diluting relevance. For transactional or bottom-funnel pages, I keep content tight and conversion-focused, since length there can actually hurt if it delays the CTA.
