Domain age has always been a topic of discussion in SEO.
Some people believe older domains have an advantage, while others think content quality and authority matter more.
What is your experience with new vs old domains?

From what I've seen, domain age by itself doesn't carry much weight anymore. An older domain can have an advantage if it has built trust and authority over time, but a newer site with strong content and relevant backlinks can still compete. I think the overall quality of the site matters far more than its age.

I’ve seen new websites get high ranks when they have strong content, proper structure, and good links. Age may help with credibility, but it won’t make up for poor execution

Domain age itself isn't the ranking factor people think it is it's more that older domains have had time to build backlinks and authority. Seen plenty of new sites outrank aged ones purely on strong content and link profile.

On the basis of personal experience, age of domain does not carry any weightage in 2026. There are many instances where I observed newly created domains achieving a high ranking based on content strength, good inter-linking within website and backlink profile of the site. While having a clean and aged domain does assist, however, I prefer having a newly registered domain with effective SEO techniques to an aged one.

Domain age matters much less than good content and strong SEO. I have seen new websites rank well by publishing helpful articles and building quality backlinks consistently.

Yes, new sites rank just fine. Age does not matter much. Google cares way more about how helpful your writing is. A brand new site with great, clear answers can easily beat an old, lazy website.

I have experieced both case, and what favor the older website is their credibility, link and their backgrond rather than their age. however an emerging website can achieve the same if it earn its credibility naturaly.

In my experience, domain age by itself is not a strong ranking factor. I’ve seen brand-new websites rank surprisingly well within a few months when they had useful content, good on-page SEO, and quality backlinks. Older domains can have an advantage if they already carry trust and authority, but age alone doesn’t guarantee better rankings.

Domain age itself is not a direct ranking factor, but older domains usually have a massive head start with existing backlinks and historical trust signals. A brand new domain can absolutely rank well if you build tight topical authority and target low-competition keywords from the start. The main difference is that a new site just takes a bit more time to break through initial filters compared to an established domain with a clean history.

Instead, I would examine the first 6 to 12 mnths of operation for the website, not the registration date. In the case that Ggl notices that the site is growing and maintaining consisitent coverage, it won't take long to establish itself.

Domain history matters more than domain age, I did rather use a newer domain with clean backlink profile than an old one with a questionable past, content quality & relevant links still make the biggest difference

Old domains can help to save a little bit of time since they might have some trust Factors, but in my opinion, the true benefit is in the history of this domain. It is more important to have a gud history rather than an old registration date.

No, I think the age of your domain does not directly boost your rankings. google has confirmed they do not give older sites a positive head start just for being old.

In my experience, domain age matters much less than content quality and topical authority. I've seen new domains rank well when everything else is done right.

I've ranked new domains in under 6 months by targeting long-tail keywords first. Aged domains only help if they already have relevant authority.

I don't think domain age is a ranking factor by itself anymore. What matters is the history behind the domain its backlink profile, trust, topical relevance, and whether it has been maintained well.

An aged domain can give you a head start if it has a clean history, but age alone won't outrank a better website.
