Failing to monetize a channel is completely normal, just focus on sharpening your editing skills to offer B2B services or outsource for big creators, which pays faster and more sustainably than chasing AdSense.

Yes, youtube is still a good way to make money but it takes time and consistency. According to me, educational and problem solving videos can do well and have long term potential and good videos editing is always valuable because content quality always matters.

Honest to God, video editing (and any other design profession) is not going to be as profitable as AI comes to the fore.
And it's not just AI tools are improving and becoming smarter as well with the help of AI. One click editing is now real from B-rolls to text overlays to everything.
What was once an after effects and FCP and Premier Pro or DaVinci domain is now riddled with capcut and filmora and others. And it is very easy to edit videos in this. Sure you're not getting cinematic quality but it's enough for someone to launch something on YouTube or TikTok or Instagram. I am also seeing new Freelancers enter the game and offer really cheap throwaway prices with decent outcome.
So everyone in the bottom run will go of need to adapt.

Video editing is profitable but you need to have a passion for anything you are palling on doing because it can be tiring sometimes before you can be able to monetize it

Yeah, but I wouldn't rely on ad revenue alone. The channels making the most money usually combine YouTube with affiliates, digital products or services. As for niches, finance, software and educational content still seem to have strong earning potential.

that's pretty ovious at this point, yt is still a very viable way to make money, it keeps getting better every year. More content, tv audiences and advertisers are moving to youtube, or have already moved there a long time ago. Adsense can pay really weel if you know how to keep viewers watching and hold their attention on the platform
