Long time lurker/buyer across BHW. I've been out the social game for a min but I have two ages Instagram accounts in travel.

One I use as a lurker/burner has 28k followers (only lost like 5k followers in the last say 5 years) and the other with 20k followers (used for parent/child many years ago).

Haven't posted in like 6 years. Wanted to know what's the best method ATM to grow or more so engagement, as I don't have time for original content but also don't wanna see the accounts go to waste.

Not too fussed on making much money but ideally would like to use in exchange for hotel stays etc.

Wanted to ask how people are navigating aged accounts or who's selling services that make sense?

Appreciate any advice or pointers to the right sellers/services

If the followers are still genuine, the best approach is to slowly revive the account instead of posting aggressively. Update the profile, start sharing quality travel content consistently, use Stories, and engage with relevant travel pages to rebuild activity.
After the account becomes active again, it’s better to approach hotels and travel brands for collaborations. Aged accounts can still have value, but the main focus should be rebuilding trust and engagement with the audience.

If you’ve already have an organic following on there it shouldn’t be too hard to re-ignite engagement and get some decent numbers. I’d kick off with a post to check how much of those followers are still active, that’ll tell you the approximate worth of the acc.

Yeah not a bad shout I'll put something together, was just hoping with the emergence of AI etc could be some great services on here that organise content too!

I'd be careful with any service promising "guaranteed" concurrent live viewers, because the real value comes from viewer quality, retention, and authenticity rather than just hitting a number. If you're considering one, ask for recent proof of delivery, clear details on how the traffic is generated, and test with a small campaign first before investing more.

Aged travel accounts are goldmines if you handle them right! Since you don't have time for original content, your best bet is running them as curation/repost accounts.

Here is what you should do:
1. Don't post heavily right away. The algorithm considers them "dormant". Start by posting 2-3 Reels a week using high-quality viral travel clips (with proper credit to owners).
2. Use scheduling tools to save time. You can batch-create a month of content in just two hours.
3. Once your engagement rate crawls back up to a decent percentage, you can easily start pitching boutique hotels for barter deals (stays for shoutouts).

Those accounts are still worth something. Don't let them go to waste. Just start posting again, take it slow, and stay consistent. Also avoid buying fake engagement. Good content will do a lot more in the long run.

To barter for hotel stays you need real engagement, repost viral travel Reels (with credit) to revive reach, hire a BHW VA to automate consistency, and only buy drip-feed views likes while strictly avoiding bot followers.

Before paying a service, see if the audience is still alive. Run 2 weeks of light Stories/Reels, check replies, saves, and follower countries, then pitch hotels with that data. Scheduling help is fine; fake engagement will just make the account harder to pitch.

To grow existing accounts without creating new content, the most effective method currently is to leverage UGC (Unique Generic Content) or redirect to re-uploading viral travel videos. Hotels now prefer high-quality image/video packages for their advertising campaigns rather than relying solely on follower engagement.

For an account that has been inactive for six years, you need to go through a "warm-up" period before you can sell, rent it out, or engage in any other activities with it.

An old account with real history can be a good starting point I’d first check how the audience responds after a few posts before making any bigger plans.

The follower count is only part of the value the main thing is whether those old followers are still interested and active once you start posting again.

Reposting a mix of your best old content with fresh captions works well for warming dormant accounts back up algorithms reward consistency more than originality right now, so that alone could get you back in shape for outreach to hotels/brands.
