To answer my own questions.

1) I started in or around 2011. Professionally since around 2016/2017 unofficially and 2019 officially (traceable public service)

2) The biggest change I've seen is the power Reddit has over Google search now. Ranks for most brand names & keywords, especially when you add the keyword "Review" to the target keywords for a long-tail search

Biggest change I noticed is how much Reddit has grown as a trusted source of real user opinions. Earlier it was mainly community discussions, but now brands, marketers and even search engines give much more importance to Reddit content and reviews.
