I'm looking for ideas. If you were starting off a business, whether legal or grey hat, mostly online tho, what industry would you go for? What would you do?

I don't know where you live but in 3rd world country you could buy an apartment with 85K euros (97K us dollars) and rent it out for $550-$650 per month. Thats what I would do.

I'd acquire an online business, after due diligence.

But a SaaS that's already profitable and is not in an industry that can easily be replaced or destroyed by AI. By the way, I won't dump all of that on the SaaS.

I would choose to establish some dependable business with no risk

With that capital, I would invest in real estate to build a small eco-tourism park featuring animals and charge for services.

If I were starting today, I'd pick something with recurring revenue. One-time sales are fine, but subscriptions or long-term clients make it much easier to scale a business.

start with something you have knowledge in... but me personally, i built digital assets, freeware.

Probably print-on-demand or a niche affiliate/content site low overhead, no inventory, and you can test what sticks before going all in.

$85k is alot of money, Although i have not handle that amount of money before, i hope someday but even so, i will handle it carefully, this is how i will doit.

1. Invest in Business in some countries that have low cost of operation and low cost to start, low cost to secure a customer and also very low minimum wage, setting up a business like meal subscription restaurant, focusing in country like Nigeria that's still developing,

2. another thing is building a mobile app solving thesame problem that some app are solving and they already validated the idea already, so you just need to build, add more feature reduce price and offer your app as alternative, you make more from their niche. this are proven ways i have seen that make a guy about $70,000 it works alot but needs alot of research. you just need to spend on user acquisition then the rest falls on affiliate.

I dont know if this sounds great.

That depends on many factors: Which country do you live in, how old are you, do you like taking risks, or are you a cautious investor?
