I actually got an account unbanned today

Yesterday I was operating on a newish NSFW account (12 days old, 600 post karma) I was growing for a client for OF promotion. My new account management strategy for big clients is to run dedicated iphones on mobile proxies for accounts I want to grow and keep safest long-term. So, I was posting and thought I could get away with upping the amount of submissions I could make in a day (from 8 to 20 subs) as well as added external links to linktree on the profile. When I got to around the 17th submission, the post was removed by reddit filters so I stopped submitting and waited. Within an hour the account was banned without an email notification or in app message meaning it was most likely due to spam detection.

Anyway, within like 5 minutes of seeing the account was banned I wrote a ban appeal in app, being honest saying that I got carried away and overposted and triggered spam filters on accident. my goal was to write the appeal very casual and human like not like some AI bullshit.

by the end of today the account was magically unbanned and operating again, except the posts from yesterday are removed by filters still. This is seriously surprising to me because I havent had an account actually unbanned through appeal since like 2023, and I have sent plenty of appeals but never in-app so it may have something to do with it.

glad you got it back, sticking to real iphones keeps things solid

I was actually just thinking about that. Maybe after a manual unban accounts are safer and stronger, but I dont have the data for it yet.

Maybe they actually read the appeal this time instead of auto rejecting it.

Your 600 karma helped. Having good karma proved you create content people actually like. Support saw you were a real user who overdid it, not a fake account built just for spam.

This account will be hanging on a delicate thread though. Next ban won't be reversed. So take it easy with the account for a few weeks.

I wouldn't ask for an Unban for fear Reddit runs something to link your account to other data.

Good you got the account back this time, but be careful because you're probably under more scrutiny/in a different bucket now. Still better than having a brand new account, probably.

in app appeals work way better than the web form, the web one is basically automated and ignores you. but honestly the linktree on the profile is what tipped it, jumping 8 to 20 subs alone usually just gets the post filtered not the whole account. and like others said if your old posts are still removed after the unban the account is flagged, id slow right down for a week or two before touching links again or it goes perma next time

I didnt take a screenshot of the exact message but I should have. The max character limit on a ban appeal is 250 characters and I used almost all of them explaining how I was aware of the rule I probably broke (spam). Then I ended the message saying "im not a robot or anything I promise" haha. Somehow this worked and got the account unbanned, which I think is due to me doing the appeal in the app and not in a browser

That’s wild, I used to try to get them to reverse the flagging when I first started off but these days I don’t bother, just keep a big enough backlog of accounts to be able to properly rotate since their support is next to non-existent anyway.
