Understanding why rankings go up and down was the most confusing part. I think SEO gets much easier once you stop expecting instant results and focus on the basics.
For me the most confusing part was search intent. In the beginning i thought using the right keyword and writing a long article was enough. Later i realized google ranks pages based on what users actually want to see. Once i started matching the content format and intent of just the keyword then my results improved.
indexing issues were probably the most confusing. a page can be well optimized, yet still struggle to get indexed, so learning how crawling and technical seo work made a big difference
for me the most confusing part was figuring out why a page wasn't ranking even when everything looked right sometimes the content was solid the on page SEO was done properly and the backlinks were decent yet the page barely moved it took me a while to realize that SEO is rarely about one factor it's usually a combination of many small things working together
For me, crawl and indexing issues were the most confusing. Sometimes everything looks fine technically, but Google still chooses not to index a page right away.
