for me, the most confusing SEO issues are ranking drops with no obvious cause. everything can look fine, content, links, indexing and yet traffic suddenly falls. sometimes it's an algorithm update, competitor changes, or shifts in search intent that aren't immediately visible. that's what usually takes the longest to figure out.

One of the most confusing situations is when a page seems to have everything going for it but still doesn’t rank because sometimes the issue comes down to relevance, competition or broader site signals that aren’t easy to spot

Understanding crawl budget and dealing with indexation issues on large sites. Figuring out why search engines ignore perfectly good pages can be super confusing at first. 
Ranking drop without any obvious changes can be confusing.

Technical SEO confused me the most at the beginning, especially indexing and why some pages wouldn't show up in Google. I think once I understood the basics, everything else became much easier.

Two sites applying same seo techniques give different results. I have seen average blogs performing very good and exceptional blogs not doing that good now.

For me it was understanding why a page wasn't ranking even when the content looked good. Later I realized SEO is a combination of content, search intent backlinks, technical health and patience. focusing on just one factor usually isn't enough.

the task of indexing and ranking is posibly the most dificult one to solve. It is not alway related to technical question, for some reason gogle prefers other page rather than your.
The difficult thing for me was to realize that sometimes SEO is not about solving an issue at hand. Sometimes the page is perfectly done but it loses just bcz of the search intent, competition or other issues that Google does not want to see at the moment.

For me, the most confounding SEO challenge is undoubtedly keyword cannibalization and misaligned search intent.
Most confusing for me was the realization of how pages that seemed to be perfectly optimized were failing to rank. With time, I have learned that optimization is not only about ticking boxes but involves much more. Search intent, content quality, satisfaction of users and releveance are among those factors. The tricky thing is discovering that missing element amidst others.

What confused me the most was keyword cannibialization. While it is possible that individual pages may look great, they will be competing against each other and none of them will perform well. Page purpose and search intent were the key to solving this problem.

What confused me most of all, however was the fact that even though some of the page had perfect on page SEO, some of them would not rank regardles of whatever else I tried to do.
