Ol g here, started messing around with seo as back as 2003. Saw the golden age of SEO etc Today, google is absolute garbage and is no use. Other if you're a large multi-million/billion dollar company. They choose big corporations over the little guy and top rank them automatically. No matter if the little guy is producing better content. Has a bigger "underground" buzz etc.

Backlinks are still useful but not like before. Bing is KING and superior to google nowadays and old seo techniques still work for bing.

From my experience, trying everything to grow my numbers from google search within the last few years.

I think they now have a youtube style algorithm. Where they are counting screen time, how fast your link caught somebodies eyes etc

This is for "the little guy" like I said, big names like ESPN, CNN and the usual suspects will forever have priority no matter what they post.

This is maybe certain, my thought on how google works now. Same way a youtube video catches someones attention. They might show your link to a few people and see how they react. If they react well, they will give your link/post a boost.

Yes google works now as "Trust" but "trusting" mainstream and ignoring independent platforms. Google is looking for "retention" and if somebody knows about SEO. And if you're smart, you can possibly trick their system.

Also, when is the class action lawsuit happening. When we all get together and sue the crap out of google for AI citing our content in search and basically having visitors remain on their website? Giving us no clicks, no ad revenue. NOTHING, straight up stealing from the little guy.

Anyways, those were my thoughts. Hopefully, we can game their system, like they're gaming us. I'm sure somebody out there with high IQ will figure it out.

I understand what you mean. My advice is don’t put too much effort into reverse engineering every little change Google makes, but create something that people really come back to, diversify your traffic streams, and observe where your audience actually hangs out. Search engines will continue to change, but a loyal audience is much more difficult for any algorithm change to take away.

I doubt Google's response will take much of a hit. There are plenty of other sources for AI to learn from.

Those traditional publishers just can't keep up with the times and blame AI for their dropping traffic.
