First Website. Got the idea for it, but no idea where to start. Please help!

I have what I believe is a good idea for a website(which I won't share right now if that's ok).
I need help please though on how to develop and set up a website, building of it, editing it, ongoing processes and hosting etc.
Can people please help, link me to good guides etc that will be the best for me in 2026.

Get a domain from name cheap, a hosting from hostgator or here or other companies and then build a website using Ai and then change some elements if you like . Is as simple as that
 
Start as simple as possible. Buy a domain, get basic hosting and build an MVP before worrying about fancy features. You'll learn way more by launching a basic version than by spending months planning the perfect site.

Get some cheap hosting for it.. Of course it depends is a huge project...

Many use AI to make websites. But I would just make it using WordPress. You get all the plugins you need for it easy way.

Of course, all depends on what the niche is. But I recommend to get some Free theme and editing it with Elementor.

If you don´t have any experience making websites and you need tutorial videos.
Most of the videos are "affiliate" videos. I mean by that, that they advertise maybe hosting, plugin or the site what is selling the domain. And many times, they just to make the website to that hosting or domain provider. And they talk mostly about random things and confuse the watcher. Halfway through the video, you realize that I don't want to do it this way....

I don't recommend buying the hosting or domain from Namecheap. Because many of the plans don't include SSL and in the namecheap there is so many "extra" features even for a basic website.
Their customer support is 100% legit, and they know what they are doing, but they have so many "extra" features that you have to pay. Even for a basic website.

Get a domain from Porkbun. Their renewal prices are the lowest and you'll think me later for it.

Get a hosting that suits your needs. You can pick a shared hosting or a VPS as a beginner. Dedicated hosting is not necessary unless you're working on a huge project with extremely high budget. You can go for HostKoala for extremely cheap shared hosting, Hostinger or Namecheap for regular shared hosting, Vultr or Digital Ocean or Hetzner for VPS. Always keep in mind to find a server close to your visitors' location so that you'll have a faster page loading times.

Once you have a domain and hosting, you can link them up and install wordpress with AI assistance. There are other CMS options and you can also create a custom website with vibe coding, but Wordpress is the most common one and you can find a ton of plugins for almost every purpose.

The rest of the process like publishing content and marketing it should have a strategy. It's difficult to give a generic answer.

It seems like first steps are:

Get a domain
Get hosting
Build a site using Wordpress

Then worry about other things down the line.

Do I have that right?
 
i’d start with a simple setup: pick a platform (shopify, webflow) or a code stack (nextjs + vercel), use a domain + ssl, add a cms (headless or built-in), then set up hosting + backups + analytics + monitoring.

See that went way over my head. I have a lot to learn.
 
Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy or does it not really matter?
 
I'd recommend finding a hosting provider first. Most hosting companies let you buy a domain directly, and they'll automatically connect it to your hosting. It's much easier and saves you the hassle of configuring everything yourself.

Not really, you can either pay extra and have someone manage the infrastructure (IAAS) and you just pay and create content. Other route is you get technical, and learn about vps hosting and how to program, and build your own stack which will take weeks,a nd months of fine tuning compared to just wix or something, But these are limiting up to a point, compared to if you prgram yourself everything with open source langauges like what are avaiable and what ones you like.

If you want to build a solution it will instantly cost you money in admin, as you'll need a chatgpt/claude sub to program with, so take that into account, however you can develop completely offline, and then upload and launch when you feel the site is right.

Your call, if you can find something on wix/squarespace, and either use their features (you have to be careful they allow your content and have the features included for a fair price) then go with them. Want singing and dancing? do your own thing! somewhere inthe middle still? Look on github for alternative frameworks that already exist for what you want.
 
For all my websites i use Claude to build them. Plain HTML. I use Vercel to hotst them for free. Get used to talkikg to Claude. Hes gonna teach you everything you need
 
1. Buy hosting and domain (I use Hostinger for example).
2. Use Hostinger one-click wordpress installation, it does everything.
3. Go to admin area and install themes & plugins, use Claude AI for things you want to build.

If your idea requires complex website, it is better to hire professional developer, so you will not struggle in the long run.

I would, depending on the cost of course, much prefer to have someone set it up for me and do all the infastructure, the hosting etc etc and for me to add the content.
 
Should I post in the joint venture section?
 
Build the website with AI then think about where your target audience lives and build a traffic funnel
 
I am also new but i think the best way is to start with a simple website first learn the basics create helpful content and improve step by step do not worry about making everything perfect in the beginning

The tools are easier to figure out once you know what the site actually needs focus on the purpose first, then choose the platform and hosting around that.
