I’ve been building a few YouTube channels and most advice always points to English as the best option. But I’m to know about other markets
For those with experience in different regions Which languages tend to have higher CPM or better monetization overall?
And are there any underrated languages/niches that are growing fast right now?

Would love to hear your insights and experiences.

English is obviously the king because of the global reach and US advertisers but if you want raw CPM then German is where the real money is. I have seen DE channels pull almost double the CPM of some US niches in certain finance or tech categories.
Don't sleep on Spanish either. The CPM is lower than Tier 1 but the competition is way lower than in English and the volume from Latin America is just massive. It is much easier to rank there right now and the growth is crazy.
If you want really underrated markets look at the Nordics like Norway or Denmark. The volume is tiny but the ads pay like crazy. For most people English is just the safest bet because it is easier to outsource everything.

English is still the safest for scale, but not always the best for CPM vs competition. From what I’ve seen, German, Dutch, and Scandinavian languages usually have high CPM and less competition. Spanish and Portuguese are growing fast but CPM is lower. Arabic can be underrated good traffic and improving monetization.

Underrated right now: smaller European markets and some Asian niches if you localize properly.

German is by far the most lucrative, with CPMs reaching up to $28 per thousand views, people in germany, switzerland, and austria have significant purchasing power, making it very profitable for advertisers to reach them, english is also a huge draw, reaching almost 1.5 billion people, and CPMs in the US and UK range from $15 to $25, although the competition is fierce.

If you're looking for massive exposure, even if it pays less, hindi is a beast with 600 million speakers, but the CPM barely reaches $1, spanish is a decent middle ground, with 600 million speakers and variable CPMs depending on the country, in spain, you can expect close to $6, while in argentina, it's around $1, french, japanese, and korean also have quite high CPMs, between $6 and $12, perfect for technology and video games, the trend today is to use the multiple audio tracks that youtube introduced so that the same video can reach several markets and average higher revenues without having to create a new channel.

Interesting points. Quick question for you guys would you prioritize volume over CPM if you're starting a new channel from scratch with pure AdSense in mind? Or go straight for high CPM markets even if growth is slower?
Honestly, I'd go straight for high CPM markets every time.
Volume is great for the dopamine hit when you see big numbers in the Studio, but 50k views in the German finance or tech niche will outperform 1M views in a low-CPM entertainment niche any day.
The slow growth in high CPM niches is only a problem if you're sitting around waiting for the algorithm to pick you up. If you actually have a solid ranking strategy to hit the Top 10 for specific high-value keywords, you don't need a massive audience to make it worth your time. I’d rather dominate a small, expensive pond than be a tiny fish in a massive, cheap one.

From my personal experience, I can say that the German language although English isn’t bad either somehow feels like there’s more money in German

English content works better on YouTube. I’ve seen better results on my channel in just three months after switching to English.

English is still the most profitable because US traffic usually pays the highest CPM, but markets like German and some Nordic languages can pay really well too

English has the highest baseline volume, but if you are chasing raw CPM, target the DACH region (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) and the Nordics. Finance, tech, and software niches in German or Norwegian frequently double or triple standard US CPMs. The most profitable strategy right now isn't choosing just one market—it's utilizing AI video dubbing tools to clone a single English faceless channel into multiple languages simultaneously. Target German for premium ad rates, and Spanish for massive algorithmic reach.

English is the international language of the world.
Many people create channels targeting the US region because that’s where the highest payouts for video views come from

English is popular but other languages like German french and japanese often have higher cpm due to strong markets and advertisers. Spanish and portuguese are growing fast, especially in latin america. Niche topics like tech financeor gaming in these languages can also attract good monetization.

English remains the most profitable language because it allows creators to reach a global audience, particularly viewers in high-income countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, where advertising rates and revenue per view are generally much higher.

English will give you the massive reach, but cpm wise like others have mentioned german is one of the highest, you can also do arabic this will target gulf states where the cpm is as good as other tier 1 countries, only problem is if you get more views from countries like egypt and etc then the earnings will go low.

English remains the most profitable language for content creators because it provides access to a global audience. It is especially effective for reaching viewers in high-income countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, where advertising rates and earnings per view are typically much higher than in many other regions.

The trend of dubbing or subtitling in multiple languages from the original channel to the Spanish and German markets using YouTube's multi-track audio feature is helping creators replicate views extremely quickly without having to create new videos from scratch.

At this time youtube is fiiled with Gaming and educational coontent

English is the most common language across platforms and most applications.
