I been avoiding Cell phones for over a decade now.

Just wondering am I the only one?

I have no registered service .

I've had simcards in developing countries maybe 3 itmes in the past 10 years for Wifi but nothing more.

I feel like it's sucha burden to have a 'location device' on you where peopole can reach you 24/7

i have 2005 motorola flip phone, the internet no longer works but
calls and txts are fine. bought a UK sim unlimited calls/txts for a year
£45 bargain , the great thing, about a dumb phone = no apps no tracking

That's a good post in itself. Which model phones have no tracking!

A friend of mine had an early 2000s phone with no internet. We used to call him an ogre.

I have a regular smartphone. I need it for work and stuff

I travel way too much for work to be off-grid for any amount of time. Paper maps only get me so far, they won't point me to the underground loading dock at the end of a hidden alley past two guard shacks.

In my country, it's common to have that kind of setup if you are doing something illegal. Otherwise, you would be weird.

you're probably the only superior guy on this one, we are cucked by phones and social media algorithms, what could I do without my phone providing me with an amazing 4 sec attention span? i guess you're probably right about it, stay away from phones before you become an addicted zombie like most people

I have a regular smartphone. I wish I could afford to stay away from it.

I slap on do not disturb & activate grayscale mode so it's all good.

as im 56 - i came up in as time were pc was for internet
and phones were for calls / txts - i hate the idea of internet
on a phone as it ruined day to day interaction.

so i remain old school . even though my phone is 20 yrs old
it still has 2 tb micro ssd for about 1000 songs and yes
for an old phone head phones as well

2 tb micro SSD is crazyyyyy

For most developing countries, a phone is more like a pc ,a means of connection ,and a phone all in one
So most would go with android

i no what you mean, ive been online since 1998 so for me
ive been so use to pc for internet - phone for calls i no no other way.
i tried an apple phone for about a week many yrs ago, hated it
went back to my krzr - im not in the 3rd world - im in UK

Banking challenged here and I see most fintechs nowadays won't let you login without an app, also tricky to load money on foreign sim card when you're not in the country at the time and can't get to local 7-Eleven. I mean you can check your prepaid balance through codes from your keypad but I need to add money sometimes too. Honestly looking for some solutions to unplug, maybe not ditching the smartphone completely, but moving a lot / most things back to pc/laptop since I control that more.

I yearn for the day I can get rid of my smartphone. Give me good internet, 50+ acres to homestead and a flip phone, I'll appear every month or so in the city like the sasquatch
