I'm wearing myself out with long videos for nothing, shorts make more sense.

While dealing with view problems on long videos, I saw that the requirement for Shorts is 10 million views. I think opening a Shorts channel makes way more sense.

Long form videos do have a higher reward (youtube for example). But it's hard to capture people's attention these days, think you're better off generating mass amount of short form content across multiple accounts rather than doing long format videos imo
 
i believe they both have their usefullness so its depends on what you want to do and the information you want to pass
 
I think starting a Shorts channel is a fantastic and very sensible idea; you should give it a try. Good luck with your Shorts.
 
I think shorts and long-form work differently. Shorts are pushed directly into the Shorts feed, so people don't have to choose to click. Long-form depends on people clicking the thumbnail and title first, then YouTube looks at how viewers respond after clicking. If long videos aren't performing, the issue isn't simply that they're long-form

I only watch long videos, but shorts are not a bad idea, the amount of brainless kiddoes frying their brain watching this garbage all day is really significant

Shorts r definitely useful in terms of reaching people faster but I do not necessarily believe that these r the only substitute for long content. Shorts r perfect for bringing in new followers while long videos will make ur loyal viewership. That is why it all depends on the purpose and nature of the conttent.
 
Indeed, and YouTube is still heavily promoting shorts, so you are right. But if you're not just looking for YouTube ad revenue, long videos are more likely to attract advertising revenue if they're well-made.
 
Shorts can definitely grow faster, but 10 million views is still a high bar. I'd treat Shorts as a way to build an audience quickly, then use them to drive viewers to longer content or other offers rather than relying on Shorts alone.

One observation that I have made is that although Shorts are gud for discovering content, they do not generate fan bases. Whenever a certain Short does well, I ensure that I develop that particular content into a more exteneded video before losing interest. It has proved to be more effective than selecting one medium over another.
 
I think that depends on your content and has nothing to do with whether the video is long or short.

Shorts are great for fast views, but 10M in 90 days is tough and pays way less than long-form. Try using Shorts on your current channel to drive traffic to your long videos! PM me, let's connect!

Use shorts as a traffic magnet for your channel, they will always drive a high volume of traffic.
 
I honestly belive that 10 million views would bring more $ by having some affiliate link in the comments than the ad revenue itself. i might be wring tho
 
It seems that followers from Shorts tend to watch videos quickly, making it more difficult to convert them to longer videos or build a loyal community.
 
It depends on the user intent. If you can answer within a couple of minutes, people won't watch 10 mins video for answer. Best example is recipe videos where most people prefer cinematic editing and short videos instead of watching water or oil boiling for 5-6 minutes. Don't waste their time if you can make content within a short span. If it's tech video or a tutorial, then most people prefer step by step process instead of jumping from one process to another, leaving them clueless.
 
Shorts are easier to scale, but building both Shorts and long form together gives the best long term growth.
