Hello guys.

For some context, I live in Spain (EU country) in a city with more or less 50k inhabitants. Top 1 businesses have got 15 DA on average, and contaminated backlinks.

2 days ago I ran into GSG podcast, since then, I have been doing my reaserch on Expireddomains for domains previously used in my country with 10 TF on Majestic or more.

As I am kinda young AND on a budget, I used my free Moz trial and the Majestic one to check the domains I had found, but all of them have lost all their DP OR they were heavlily spammed (BTW only domains I found were from EX newspapers from cities 300 miles away but as I have heard AND noted it dont really matter as long as I play it smoothly).

ANYWAY I (kinda) have lost the hope on finding (not 50 domains as yall talk about here) a SINGLE domain I can get for my PBN. I believe Id just need 2 or 3 to get to work on my city.

Question is: taking into account that I JUST looked for expired domains I can get for the normal rates, is there ANY chance I manage to find a good one (taking into account my location)?

Should I invest in one of these paid tools for a month to do my reaserch?

ATP I just feel I should start my own newspaper or blog and growth hack my ass into 30 DA LOL

I had a 3rd question but I forgot it LOL any suggestions are HIGHLY appreciated.

Not the question I had in mind but how likely is that Expireddomains shows 5DP and the domain has got IDK 20? Maybe I should just manually check every one (I did end up with a list of 100 domains with 10+ TF)

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for the help!

for a local PBN, don’t chase DA first. manually check that 100-domain list for old topical/location relevance, live referring pages, anchors, and archive history. if every reg-fee domain is spammed, one month of a paid tool can save time, but it won’t magically create good dropped domains.

Don't get carried away by the 3rd-party metrics. You should watch out for domain history. If a domain was dropped and abused by casino, pharms, etc. site, then it won't work regardless of the DA, DR, TF, or other metrics. So, you should identify potential domains through a deep research.

expireddomains' metrics are always stale, manually check every domain in your list yourself before trusting the tool's numbers

The reality is, that you won't find any decent or clean domain for free registration nowadays. Definitely not without tools and even then you will have to look very hard and lower your expectations.

What you are trying to do now has been done thousands of times, so don't really expect to find gems there. Especially in smaller locale like Spain (not super small, but still) the amount of viable domains isn't exactly high.

Alas, without budget you won't get far. You have to go to auctions and try there. You can find some half decent domains on Godaddy for minimum bid, so like $15 in total sometimes. Some more decent on Namejet, but minimum there is $69 and sometomes on Dropcatch. So I would start looking there.

Don't waste your time and money on trivial things that don't work. Get a groupbuy of spamzilla, it will cost you a few dollars. Does not require any experience.

Believe me there are many benefits to having your own range of 'fake' newspaper sites

Are you just limiting to .es domains? If so, you might want to look at .com/.net/.org etc that have had Spanish language content on them before. This way you can target old South American/Caribbean business domains too.

Metrics like DA, TF, or DR are only part of the picture. The domain's history, past content, and relevance are just as important.
Yeah I know, It is just the first metric I am looking at with a free tool like ED

Some people say proximity is important, some dont. I guess it dont matter as long as the mention of the money site makes sense? Looking for es/com/net/org domains, yes.

Just found a domain from South America that got 1 legit wikipedia BL. The domain has got 10 DR and Majestic TF 15 but rest of BLs are Telegram and some trash ones, not bought or spammed tho.
Claude (yikes) is telling me to ignore. 5 years of WBY and clean. Is this the one to start with?

The stats provided by ExpireDomain can be used as effective filter, but should not be considered conclusive. what really matter is the background of the website and its backlink. those domain that have perfect metrics are most probably containated in some way. In case budget is an issue focus on auction or bulk purchse.

ExpiredDomains does not always show the most up-to-date DP data, so the actual backlink profile can sometimes be stronger than what's listed. While it is possible for a domain with 5 DP to have more referring domains, big jumps are fairly rare. If you are already shortlisted around 100 domains, I'd focus on manually checking the best candidates with a reliable backlink tool instead of reviewing every expired domain.

Is this the one to start with?
Grab it. In a market where the local leaders sit at DA 15 you don't need a nuke, you need a nudge -> one real Wikipedia link plus five clean years of archive at reg fee is exactly that. The Telegram junk is noise, unspammed trash links just sit there doing nothing.

What decides whether that Wikipedia link keeps counting is what you rebuild on the domain: Spanish content, same topical lane the old site lived in. On your proximity question, language plus topic beats geography. An old South American domain writing in Spanish about your niche is closer to your money site than a dead .es newspaper from 300 miles away.

And Claude told you to skip it because those tools are calibrated for big-market wars. Your city is a knife fight, DR 10 is a perfectly good knife.

Finding a good expired domain is definitely harder now. Most of the ones with good metrics end up having spammy backlinks or weak history. I would focus more on checking the domain history and backlink quality than just TF or DA. If you are checking a lot of domains then a one month paid tool can be worth it to save time.

i wouldn't rely on DA or TF alone i've seen domains with great numbers but terrible backlink profiles while lower metric domains with clean relevant links performed much better

Im in Spain aswell, and been looking for local and french pbns. You can find something good, but it depends on what you are looking for. My usual approach for non-dropcatch domains is to look for some with clean history and at least a few good backlinks. And you can find some. They will be better than regular backlinks you can buy on the market. Just keep in mind that its much easier if you can afford some tool to work with this domains, not just looking on expireddomains by hand.

Hey Mr. Steptoe, after many hours of reaserch with no finds I came back to this thread to scrape some for information and came up with a question.

Can I use, as you mention, South American or Caribbean domains to rank my sites in Spain? Would i have to make SA / C content and then link to my Spanish domains AS LONG as context allows it? Is this how it would work?

What if I found a domain from idk Mexico, about the wood industry. Can I activate it on the same topic but as if it was now in Spain and still get the authority?

Jumping in since this loops back to the proximity question from earlier in the thread. The authority is not sitting in the country, it is sitting in the links and the topic lane. A Mexican wood industry domain carries Spanish-language links about wood. Rebuild it as a Spanish wood site and most of that keeps counting. Rebuild it as a Valencia dentist and you are starting from zero with extra steps.

Two things decide it in practice. First the TLD: an old .com or .org travels fine, a .mx is anchored to Mexico in a way you cannot really talk Google out of. Second the relaunch: keep the old topic visible, leave the archive pages live, add your Spain-facing content on top over a few weeks. The domains that die are the ones wiped clean and reborn as something else overnight. Google treats that as a new site wearing an old name and prices it accordingly.
