Have Reddit Users Become Better at Spotting Marketing?

Reddit has been using a stupid AI/automation lately which is annoying

False detections, but there is a human backlog of 2 months, so by the time your appeal gets seen it just gets binned since it is usually a newer/smaller account that doesn't warrant much attention.

Something I have noticed recently is that Reddit users seem much faster at identifying promotional content than they were a few years ago.

Reddit posts that feel even slightly forced often get called out quickly, while genuine discussions and personal experiences continue to perform well.

Do you think reddit users have become better at spotting marketing, or have marketers simply become more aggressive with promotion?

I am curious to hear what others are seeing.
Iam not sure. However. One thing that's changed over the last few years is that Reddit itself has become much more commercial. It now licenses access to its data to companies such as Google and OpenAI in deals I think around tens of millions. That should and would raise questions about how the platform balances community interests with business interests. I would've thought reddit users cared about this just as much as spammy content. But in answer yes. Just I see the platform becoming more commercialised slowly but surely and their data is being handed off (possibly) even their remembrance of this once well known possibility is a understated thing.

So if you ask me. They are being selective....

It is actually both. Reddit community was pretty tech savy and can recognize most marketing campaigns so do something more creative who dont look like you promote a product

Reddit is almost the best for marketing but it can also be a nightmare if done in a wrong way. Users have become really good at smelling promo before you even breath. But at the same time, I think it should be controlled.

What is business without marketing, I mean what are we supposed to do if we can't get information to people. And it's funny because a lot of people go to Reddit if they need suggestions for products.

Good marketing should be indistinguishable from organic on Reddit.

They definitely tend to be more aware though.

I think it's both Reddit users are much better at spotting forced promotion now and marketers are posting more than ever. Honest, helpful comments still do well because they feel natural.

Yes. Many Reddit users are now better at spotting marketing, especially overly promotional posts and disguised ads.
