How important are social links on websites?

Start with easy wins: social profiles, a few niche directories and useful forum mentions. Then move into small guest posts once the site has decent content, no need to overcomplicate it early lol.

Not necessarily, though having a Facebook or Instagram link sitting in your footer isn't a direct ranking factor . Still, active social profiles can help with trust, boost brand visibility, and create another route, for users to discover your business. But if you aren't actually using those platforms, it might be wiser not to place those links there purely for SEO reasons.

I thought i'd run my website through loads of random site audit websites, lots of the reccomendations were just slop that isn't effective anymore but one thing that caught my eye was that basically all of them wanted me to have a facebook and instagram page linked on the footer, is this actually important?
A lot of audit tools recommend that by default If you already have active social profiles I would link them If not I wouldnot rush to create them just to clear an audit warning.

I would not add them just because an audit tool says so. If you are actually active on facebook or instagram, then it makes sense. Otherwise, I would focus on improving the site itself instead of adding social links that nobody uses.

i don't think social links are a direct ranking factor but they can help build trust and make your brand look more legitimate If you're active on those platforms anyway it's worth linking them

If you're active on Socials, you can add them to your homepage, it's a brand signal like many others have said.

If you're not active of Socials, I don't think there's a need to add them as it can cause negative impression that your site is not updated.

Again, I think the need depends on the kind of site you're running.

Social links are not a direct ranking factor, but they can help with brand trust, visibility, and overall credibility signals.

I think they are important for down the road when your audience grows more people will click on your socials and that can be monetized, i'd include them

They do not pass any direct SEO authority or link juice since they are nofollow, but they are crucial for E-E-A-T. Google looks at footer social links to verify your brand is a real, legitimate entity rather than a fly-by-night spam site. It definitely helps build trust. :)

I don't think it's a ranking factor. Having social profiles can help with trust and branding, but simply adding Facebook or Instagram links in the footer won't boost your SEO. I'd focus more on good content, internal linking, and quality backlinks.

Social links are highly important because they build brand trust, drive cross-platform traffic, and establish your digital presence.

Social links help build trust, brand credibility, and can drive referral traffic, even if they aren't a direct ranking factor.

Yes, it's important because it helps increase the website's credibility with both customers and Gg and it also helps retain connect users across other platforms, which is very important.

Social links are useful, but they are not something that directly improves rankings. Their main purpose is to help visitors connect with the brand and build trust.

Helpful for traffic and brand signals, but not a big ranking factor directly.

Better to focus on real engagement than just adding links. Curious what others think.

Social links build trust and credibility, but they don't directly improve rankings.

Having social links is more about building trust than boosting rankings. I think they're worth adding if you actively use those profiles, but I wouldn't expect a big SEO impact from them alone.
