Hello

LinkedIn profiles with huge follower numbers but their posts get very little engagement.

At the same time some people with much smaller audiences seem to generate real conversations, leads and opportunities. It makes me wonder if audience quality matters more than audience size.

What would you rather have on LinkedIn: 5,000 highly relevant followers or 100,000 general followers? Curious to hear your thoughts.

5,000 relevant followers every time. big numbers help a little with social proof, but if the audience does not care about the topic the posts just die quietly.

Give me 5k relevant followers all day. I ve seen accounts with 100k followers get less business than someone with a small niche audience. On LinkedIn the right people in your network matter way more than flexing a big follower count.

A smaller audience that genuinely cares will always outperform a larger one that simply scrolls past, because real engagement opens up far more meaningful opportunities than sheer numbers ever could

I would choose 5000 relevant followers rather than 100,000 general followers. That is because your quality matters more on linkedin. If you followers who have quality then you can learn something from them, got engaged with them with creative activities.

5000 relevant followers often outperform 100000 generic ones because engagement drives trust and opportunities on LinkedIn. Audience quality matters more.

Authenticity of followers also matters along with the number of followers. A small audience that actually cares about your content usually brings better engagement, leads and real opportunities compared to a large audience.

If you're running lead magnets - yeah - followers are important - the more followers the more reach you can get with your lead magnets.

Yes, LinkedIn followers still matter because they increase your content's reach and build credibility. However.

5k highly relevant followers would be the best because they would spread how good of a job we do with our pest control business.

I personally choose 5k highly relevant followers anytime. I saw people with huge followers get almost no engagement, while smaller accounts build real relationships with their followers.

People buy from people they feel connected to. A smaller audience allows you to reply to every single comment, build real friendships, and turn simple conversations into paid deals.

Followers don’t really matter much on LinkedIn anymore. What actually drives reach and opportunities is consistent engagement on your posts plus your account’s overall history and activity level. Sending too many DMs has also been hurting visibility lately. One thing that’s becoming a bigger problem is LinkedIn flagging profiles that look fake, especially ones using AI images, which can trigger document verification that stays pending for 3-6 months. At the end of the day a smaller engaged audience will still beat a huge inactive following every single time.

Quality matters. Not quantity. 5000 highly relevant followers are better than 100k general followers

Heavy follower means nothing, But with Heavy skills you have alot of stuff on linkedin.

I noticed that even with identity verification, accounts on that platform still have restrictions.

Absolutely, yet the relationship and connections are much more important than the number of followers.

I would prefer the smaller, target audience. Even though numbers might seem appealing, they do not make sense if there is no interaction involved. It is easier to get a conversatiion going with an audience that is pasionate about your niche.
