I've been seeing mixed opinions lately

Some marketers swear by PPC because it delivers results quickly, while others say SEO gives much better long-term returns

If you've used both, which one has given you the best ROI and why?

I'd love to hear some real experiences especially what worked or didn't for your business or clients

From my experience, PPC is good for fast results and quick testing. SEO is slower, but it’s much more stable in the long run
If I had to choose, I’d use PPC first to test, then SEO for long-term ROI. Both together usually works best ;)

PPC gave me quick results, but it also burned through the budget fast. SEO required more patience, but the long term return ended up being much higher.

PPC works if you need quick sales or immediate traffic because you can start getting visitors and conversions almost right away, but it usually stops when you stop spending. SEO works if you want stable and long-term growth, since it takes time to build but keeps bringing consistent organic traffic without paying for every click.

Do PPC for first sale while quietly doing SEO. Think of it like working a 9~5 job while quietly building your own business with the money from the job.

For me SEO gave better ROI in long run, PPC is good for fast results but cost adds up realy quick.

Yes, PPC is still worth it for fast results and quick growth, while SEO is better for long-term ROI. I usually use both depending on business needs

I use PPC for quick testing and SEO for long-term growth. PPC gives fast data, while SEO keeps bringing traffic without paying for every click.

SEO definitely gives a better long-term ROI because the traffic compounds without you paying for every single click. PPC is still worth it, but only if you need instant leads or want to test a new offer fast.

PPC vs. SEO is not sen as an either issue anymore both strategie work in tandem. PPC shows me what convert the visitors into buye irespective of its efficiency however, SEO give me an oportunity to benefit from this without spendng any money.

For clients, PPC works best for immediate leads. SEO usually wins when we look at long term profitability.

Depends on the niche, but once SEO starts ranking it usually brings cheaper and more consistent traffic than PPC.

One thing that changed the way I did things was using PPC to find pages worth investing in SEO for. A few campaigns showed me which keywords were actually making money, and those were the first pages I focused on for SEO

Depends entirely on what you're promoting and how patient you are with capital. for affiliate marketing, PPC wins for me but the math only works if your offer structure supports paid traffic. I run Google Ads on SaaS affiliate programs with recurring commissions. The moment a conversion keeps paying for 12 months, your acceptable CPA goes up significantly and PPC becomes much more viable than it looks on paper. SEO for affiliate is genuinely good ROI over 18-24 months, but the upfront cost is hidden you're paying in content, links, and time instead of ad spend. It's not "free." And the biggest problem with SEO affiliate in 2026 is Google's own AI overviews eating a lot of the informational traffic that used to convert well. Product comparison and review pages that ranked well 2 years ago are getting hit hard. PPC doesn't have that problem. you're buying placement directly, algorithm changes don't wipe your traffic overnight. The trade-off is you stop paying, traffic stops immediately. SEO compounds, PPC doesn't. My actual setup: PPC for fast validation and current revenue, no SEO right now. If I were building something I wanted to own long-term I'd layer SEO on top once PPC proved the offer converts. But PPC first you learn in weeks what SEO takes months to tell you.

People also mix up “best ROI” with “easiest ROI to prove”. PPC is clean because you know spend, clicks, CPA, ROAS etc. SEO can look amazing later, but a lot of guys forget to count content cost, links, edits, waiting time, and the pages that never rank.

For @Daniel Emmanuel, if it’s a proven offer with margins, PPC usually wins first because you get buying intent now. If the niche has search demand and you can rank for commercial terms, SEO wins over time. Informational SEO is getting weaker imo, but bottom-funnel pages still worth building around keywords that PPC already showed can convert.

If you need sales this week to survive, pick PPC because SEO takes at least six months to show real progress. But if you want a business that grows cheaper over time, investing in high quality SEO is the smartest move.

Looks like you replied your own question :p

Long term = SEO

Short term campaigns = PPC

Using PPC during holiday sales gave us a massive, quick boost in revenue when buying intent was very high. However, building steady SEO content remains the baseline that keeps the business profitable during slow months of the year.

SEO wins on lead quality and profit margins. Clicks from organic search are free and those users trust you more, while rising PPC keyword costs can quickly eat up all your profit if your conversion rate is not perfect.

Yeah @EchoingEpitaph has the right approach. Most people waste thousands of dollars and months of time doing SEO for high volume keywords that end up converting at absolutely zero percent. If you run a tight exact match PPC campaign first, you find the actual buyer intent keywords in like two weeks instead of guessing.

Also honestly... with how fast google is changing the SERPs and pushing those AI overviews, relying purely on SEO for long term stability is kinda risky now. The real ROI is usually using PPC to capture the immediate high-intent searchers, then setting up cheap retargeting ads on social to catch the traffic that didn't buy first time. They work better together anyway, trying to run just one in a vacuum usually ends up costing more in the long run.
