Niche edits are still mainly the better option, mainly because the page already exists and so has had the ability to either pick up links naturally or had links built to it. Google also seems to have turned off (or significantly lessened) the anti-spam system covering excessive page updates, which has affected them in the past.
One caveat to niche edits though is ideally you want your edit on a page with a history of updates, not inserted into a stagnant article from 2015. An 'active' page shows freshness and evolution in knowledge, while a new link added to a 10 year old article shows attempts at manipulating SEO.

Niche edits on aged content still hold better in my experience, the page already has authority baked in. Guest posts on fresh pages take longer to kick in and are easier to spot in a link audit.

Niche edits can be strong because the link is placed on an existing page that may already have authority and rankings. Sometimes this helps the link show impact faster.
Guest posts are also effective since you have full control over the content and how the link is placed.
In most cases, the real factor is site quality, relevance, and natural placement, not just the link type. A good niche edit or a good guest post can both move rankings.

Niche edits from traffic sites works better than general type guest post. Google trusts traffic sites.

Niche edits are very helpful as of 2026 because if the other site is an authoritative one you get traffic faster to your website/blog than guest posts for example. Guest posts are good as well but you should aim to have a mix of both for better SEO and reach on your website/blog.

I am seeing in 2026, niche edits are still working well when they are placed on real,aged pages with existing traffic and relevance.They usually get indexed faster and can pass authority more naturally than many low quality guest post.

Nothing is better or worse than anything. The real question of every SEO campaign is, am I helping or entertaining the users. If yes, you will be known by search engine bots and people. No frilsz, no fusz.

niche edits from relevant pages and which are indexed on Google still works well and sometimes even better that guest posts.

Niche edits are cheaper, mix both guest posts and niche edit doing it manualy obviosly to save the money and have quality picks.
On the niche edit vs guest post debate, i've seen a lot of folks leaning into those "premium" niche edit services, especially the ones promising super high authority sites. honestly, be careful. often those sites are slow as hell, or have a questionable link profile that could hurt ya more than help. focus on sites with solid ttfb and good ip reputation. a fast site with clean history is gonna give you a much better return, regardless of the link type. prioritize those fundamentals, then worry about the "safeness" of your link strategy

I think the quality of the site matters more than the type of link. A good guest post or a good niche edit can both work if they are on a relevant website.

For me new page is always better and more natural. For a long time Google can understand that if the page is updated solely to put a new link - that doesnt seem like a genuine thing.
