Are YouTube Video Descriptions Still Important for Growth?

personally i still spend a few minutes on the description because it gives context and helps organize the video title and thumbnail usually have a much bigger impact but a clear description is still worth adding especially for search and overall channel quality

Descriptions do help with placing your videos in the right category but it doesn't make much of a difference, because the algo will detect your content and promote it to the right audience and also considering in factors like your ctr and etc. The main blowup factors are CTR's and retention rates and create videos on trending topics, topics that have proven to get already huge views.

I think descriptions still matters but not as much as the title and thumbnail. I mainly use them to add useful keywords and extra information that helps viewers to understand the video.

Yup they help point your content to relevant users.

The video description is a concise way to let viewers know what your video is about, making it easier for them to find what they're looking for.

Descriptions are still important for SEO and some time viewer find many information there. YouTube still need this for good result.

In my opinion, the video description is still an important part of publishing content on YouTube. Besides providing additional context and useful information for viewers, it can also help optimize your videos for YouTube search and improve their discoverability.

Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that some creators spend a lot of time optimizing their video descriptions, while others keep them very simple.
Do you think video descriptions still play an important role in discoverability and channel growth, or have they become less significant over time?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Not much impact you can make with good description if content is not good. It can supplement a good video though.

I still spend time on descriptions. The first 1–2 lines are important because that's where I put the main keywords so YouTube can better understand what the video is about. I also use slightly different wording from the title and add a few more keyword-related lines later in the description

I would still complete my descripition, but not worry much about making it long. my greatest success has been in tailoring my descriptionns to use the real search terms people are using, as well as including a couple gud links or chapters. after this, however, optimising my video for the first 30 seconds has always been far more fruitful than the description itself.

YouTube describe are good in expressing with brief/summary information about the upload content for viewers to read and get expose on trend pages with tag keyword and captions added.

They certainly still do help a little in terms of context and search relevance, but i do not believe that they are really helping much all by them selves. i could be more focused on the thumbnail and first 30 seconds of the videos than a long description.
