I started a new channel andbive been trying to post consistently and with the best quality as i can. I've noticed some videos dont go past a certain level if they are reached through "suggested", then the ones reached through "Browse feature" tend to do a bit better than the suggested. does anyone know how this works? or what decides how the videos are reached

Browse and Suggested are driven by different signals, but audience retention and click-through rate usually have the biggest impact.

suggested pushes to viewers who dont click while browse finds people actively searching for your topic
this actually makes sense, also i noticed after the suggested the views it stops getting views

now my impressions are doing okay but the challenge is usually a small CTR. thumbnail and title seem fine, I use VidIQ and it scores it high and I copy the thumbnails doing well but still small CTRs

A high VidIQ score helps, but real viewers matter more than tool scores. Try testing different thumbnail styles and titles that spark curiosity without being misleading, as even a small CTR improvement can significantly boost your reach.

I am still figuring this out too but from what i have seen, it mostly depends on how people react when the video is first shown. If the click through rate and watch time are good, youtube seems to push it to more people .the traffic source feels more like a result than something we can control.

From what I have seen audience response matters a lot. If people click your video and watch it for longer then youtube is more likely to recommend it to more viewers. Consistency helps but keeping people interested is more important.

It is post click satisfation which producer tend to overlok. youtube measures the metrics of retention engagement, rewatches, and continuity. It is a click through rate that make youtube test your video but post click satisfaction will make YouTube distribute your video.

if your already getting suggested views and browse features views, it is a good sign...do not stop!! keep uploading because eventually the channel will blow past the view limits, 90% of channel have view limits, when you start out, youtube will dedicate a limit to your channels and as you keep uploading the limits start getting higher. You need to minimum be consistent with a channel for atleast 6 months to 1 year. This is the case for most channels. Some creators break these limits through botting and other ways of promoting the videos as well and certain channels have the luck factor, from the very first video, the channel just blows up to millions of views, so do not give up, make changes if needed by also observing your competitors and keep being consistent. You can win.

I think you should not focus too much on where the views are coming from. Instead, make sure to pay attention to audience retention, click-through rate, and viewer satisfaction. If those signals are strong, youtube generally expands the reach over time. Also, avoid judging a video's performance too early, as some videos take time to gain momentum.

I think Browse usually means YouTube is showing it to people on the homepage or subs page. if people click and they keep watching from " Browse" YouTube pushes the video but there is no formula though, i would guess it's probably based on CTR, also watch time, etc

your contributions have been really enlightening. I'm going to start working on the quality and retention more

YouTube basically decides this from how people behave while watching. If folks click your video, keep watching for a long time , and also interact with it, YouTube will show it to more people through Browse and Suggested. Browse traffic often works better in practice because it gets served to viewers who are likely to care about the topic, while Suggested depends a lot on how well your video aligns with related content and the preferences those viewers already have .

I have seen youtube tests videos with different audiences first. If people click and keep watching the video it expands the reach, so browse and suggested traffic can perform very differently depending on thosse signals.
