What's a "dead" method you still use that actually works?

We all know methods come and go. Algorithms change, platforms crack down, and what worked last year gets labeled "dead." But sometimes, old methods still quietly print money if you know how to adapt them.

So what's a method everyone says is dead but you're still using successfully? Drop it below — no gatekeeping, just honest discussion.

Dead parasites, parasites that were not ranking anymore, starts ranking again and makes money. Happened a few times to me.
There you go, dead method that started working again.

Forum marketing still works for me and everyone keeps calling it dead. The trick is being active in the right communities instead of spamming links everywhere. Less scale than before but the traffic quality is actually solid.
 
I still use manual niche-relevant backlinks and genuine outreach. People call it "dead," but when done naturally, it continues to improve rankings and build long-term authority.
 
Don't tell anyone that Parasite SEO is working like a charm because then everyone would do it.

Great responses everyone. Love seeing parasite SEO, forum marketing, and manual outreach still getting results. The common theme seems to be: the methods arent dead, lazy execution is. Adapt and they still work.
 
exact match domains. everyone buried them after the 2012 update but a clean emd on a low competition buyer keyword still ranks fast, and the ctr in the serp is unfair because the domain literally matches what they typed. niche it tight enough and you skip half the link building. dead just means the lazy version stopped working.
 
EMDs are underrated. People write them off because of the old Google update but a tight exact match on a niche keyword still converts like crazy. The click-through alone makes it worth it half the time.

Fair point. I meant more along the lines of what still quietly makes you money despite being labeled dead. But your take works too — competing by sabotage is a time-honored tradition around here.
