A lot of users treat LinkedIn like any other social platform, but I'm curious what experienced users think.

What's the most common mistake you see people making that limits their growth, engagement, or networking opportunities on LinkedIn? Have you made any mistakes yourself that taught you valuable lessons?

My biggest mistake was to treat it like a social media network for professionals. It's not. I mean there are employees and employers who post their career stuff but at it's core it's a b2b marketing platform.
Once you understand that will change what you think of linkedin.

One of the biggest mistakes is posting consistently but never engaging with others. LinkedIn rewards genuine conversations and relationship-building, not just content publishing.

The absolute most damaging mistake people make is treating LinkedIn like a megaphone rather than a networking mixer—they constantly broadcast their own achievements or drop low-effort, generic comments like 'Great share!' instead of treating the comment sections of industry leaders as high-value real estate to showcase their actual critical thinking and domain expertise

I think posting some practical updates is very helpful. Maybe for some people, it will be useful and they will give you likes and comments, thus making you visible to more people. However, I think it's okay to occasionally post some pictures of the daily work process, which would make it appear more professional. ;)

I noticed people focus too much on going viral instead of building consistency. That kills long term growth.

First mistake people use false informations on their experience. They sent connection requests randomly. They use too much ai generated content that’s why they didn’t get proper growth

I think one of the biggest mistakes many people make on LinkedIn is not engaging enough. By staying passive, they miss out on valuable career opportunities as well as potential clients.

The largest problem with LinkedIn is the absence of a complete profile and infrequent interaction with other people.

Posting generic AI content and expecting leads imo. LinkedIn works way better when you actually comment, start conversations and show some personality instead of sounding like a corporate bot.

I post my unhinged videos over there as well.

The crowd surely loves em.
