Has quora become more about choosing the right question than writing the best answer?

I think both are important, but responding early usually has an advantage. After that, the quality of the content is what determines whether the post will retain views in the long term.

Quora is being seen as a spammers' platform now. I'm seeing fewer results from quora on google. Reddit is leading this Q & A style content.

No doubt, being early definitely gives you an advantage, but your answer still needs to be useful if you want to get long term views.

I think timing definitely helps but i have also seen older answers gain traction after being updated with better information. If a question has long term search interest then improving an existing answer can still bring good results even if you were not the first to reply.

Yeah, timing seems to matter a lot now. Being early definitely helps you get visibility before the thread gets crowded, even if later answers are more detailed. It feels more like "first good answer wins attention," not just "best answer wins."
