Substack for creating niche audience is just great.. Beehiv tried to replace them but they are still standing strong.

YouTube is more useful for discovering something, wherea Substack is great for having control over your subscriber. the perfect formula would be to use youTube to discover someone and use email to develop a relatinship with them.
 
Both have their strengths YouTube is great for audience growth while Sub stack works well for direct subscriber relationships and recurring income
 
youtube is better for reach, but substack can give more loyal audience, so it depends on your content and long term goal.
