I have seen mixed opinions on profile links and Web 2.0s lately

Some people still use them as part of their link building strategy, while others say they have become largely outdated and provide little value on their own.

For those actively building links in 2026, do you still use profile links or Web 2.0s? If yes, how do you use them, foundational links, tiered links, indexing, etc. and have you seen any measurable impact from them recently?

Interested to hear real world experiences.

Quality and relevance matter for more than the platform is 2026

Still use them only as foundation links. I wouldn't expect them to move rankings much on their own anymore.

Yeah, they are helpful till now but only for fresh domains they are not helpful for big websites. I build a few high-quality profile and web 2.0 backlinks for new website to help with indexing.

If its up to me i wouldn't rely on profile links or Web 2.0s as a strategy by themselves anymore. If you decide to use them treat them as a small supporting part of a broader SEO approach rather than expecting measurable ranking gains on their own. In my experience, focusing on quality and relevance has produced more consistent long-term results.

In my experience, profile links and web 2.0s they still have a place, just not as direct ranking drivers like people assume. I use them more as foundational links and for diversification of the backlink profile rather than expecting them to move rankings on their own. The biggest gains still come from relevant, editorial links found on quality websites , not from these weaker placements

They're definitely not as powerful as they used to be, but I still use them as part of a larger SEO strategy. Combining them with quality content, niche edits, and authority links gives much better results.

Profile links and Web 2.0s can still support brand visibility and link diversity, but they offer limited SEO value on their own.
Focus on earning relevant, high quality backlinks that drive authority and real traffic.

They do not have much value but are good for diversification of links.

From my experience profile links and Web 2.0s are supporting assets rather than ranking drivers most of the impact now comes from relevant high quality contextual links

From what I've tested profile links and Web 2.0s have limited direct impact today most ranking gains come from strong contextual links while these work better as part of a balanced profile

That's right; I often create high-quality backlinks—such as profile links and Web 2.0 links—for new websites to support the indexing process.

Web 2.0s still have some value if they're built with useful content instead of thin pages i see them as supporting assets rather than primary ranking links
