I was an AI critic then fell in love with it and now I’m back to manually clicking websites at least 10 minutes daily.

The reason many times AI cites Reddit or big websites and most big websites have secured AI deals and small to mid size websites are dropping out fast.

For AI to have a balanced view these small to mid size websites are equally important and I don’t see them receiving AI deals anytime soon hence visiting them and helping them survive via watching ads is important. Otherwise we’ll soon learn to follow and believe one kind of view and yes it’s happening I’m seeing people talk like they talk to AI and even passing on misinformation confidentiality. Hence I feel now is a good time use AI but spare some minutes and manually use websites maybe collectively we can save some websites. Share your thoughts.

Yeah I kinda agree. AI makes things easier, but if everyone only consumes AI summaries we’ll end up seeing less of the original voices and smaller sites that actually create the information. Using AI + still checking out websites directly feels like the better balance.

You’re partly right. AI and big platforms can reduce traffic to smaller sites because people rely more on summaries and major sources. That can shrink diversity of information over time. But it’s not really AI “deciding” that, it’s user behavior and search/traffic shifts that were already happening. Best balance: use AI for speed, but still visit original sites when you want depth, nuance, or different perspectives.

It'll only help AI to prove that they are not favoring those authority sites and continue doing it. Google, for instance, received backlash after the declining site visits exposed and they are now trying to fix it by encouraging people to visit websites.

Its not in openai ,or claude's. Or any for that matters, best interest to serve up other site links. Unless of course they are somewhat affiliates. As with all technology. It has its burdens and cares...

Zero clicks percentage are increasing. It will never decrease.

Yeah big sites have the monopoly with AI and it's a good thing you're doing the manual clicking.

This makes a lot of sense but unfortunately, my tiny clicks wouldn't really help much because the general population seem to be getting addicted to AI. Some are even completely against ads, without realizing ads are the reason they even get free content on the internet.

Information sites are dying and would soon completely be gone.

Who's gonna tell general public? They need ease of use, everyone is lazy, the dopamine blasts have messed up with everyone's brain. I am pretty sure if everyone start thinking like that the big corps will surely be in danger but they know how to manipulate because they have gigantic amount of public data.

I really can't image how new info will be produced in future and for what small sites should work if they are not getting traffic.

So the future is AI working for us while we manually browse the internet to keep websites alive. Fair trade, I guess.
