Let's say there's a spammer who's spamming utter garbage and he gets reported by 3 different people.

Could there perchance be a system where after a certain amount of reports from different people their post gets automatically removed?

Mods might be asleep so when they are dreaming of bodacious anime ladies this system could be used until they wake up.

Bhw members united as one.

PS i wanted a reason to use perchance. Shhh.

what if someone create multiple accounts to get an account banned?
There would have to be requirements in place I guess like say jr VIPs or above reports are treated differently than a newbie report.

So maybe something like 10 reports from separate newbies accounts or 3 from jr VIPs and above.

Also it won't be used to ban them just remove their post while mods are asleep.

mods would have to look at it as you could end up with a system where
friends group together to mass report some ones posts not because it
breaks rules, but because people dont like that user

I guess it wouldn't work

1) it could be abused by people running multiple accounts
2) even if there are some requirements, like ''only upgraded members'' are taken into consideration by this rule... there are some guys running JR VIP farms here, they could also abuse it and have this super power available for them
3) there are many people complaining and few people actually hitting the report button, i'm always reporting stuff here, but i don't think posts would reach 10 reports in most cases

I think it could work. If it was just the top 2 executive tiers or something. Posts with 2 reports or more by these members, can put the spam thread/post in a holding area for review, if admin reviews it and its valid then same process as what happens now, it wouldn't be any more work, apart from queue management?. Make rules for non valid reports same as wasting mod time now, if the post isn't a serious spam post like it has contact details in it, which i think is the real reason behind your idea, to clamp down on spammers faster. Its only the thread posts that this idea would work with, the in thread spam that you get could just wait its turn on the current mechanism.

Still think it wouldn't properly solve things?, as you HOPE that the correct members would be online at any one specific spamming time.

This gets brought up every now and again during our internal meetings. A lot of the issues you guys already have come up with are pretty much the same reasons we've identified.

It is possible we may use the rebooted Executive program to help with both spam and quality of posts in the future. And of course we are constantly tweaking things. Yesterday I tested a few things to take out some of the more annoying spam that you guys have been complaining about. Regardless, don't think we're sitting on our thumbs doing nothing. Unfortunately it all just takes time to work through and implement.

Until then, do what all of the staff keep asking users of the forum to do. Report, report, report when you see something unusual or wrong.
