I agree with you. Quality always matters more than quantity, especially for a new site. Building a few strong, relevant links while improving content and traffic growth is a much safer long-term strategy than chasing a fixed monthly number. Natural growth usually gives better results and reduces risk.

Building 5–15 high-quality, relevant backlinks per month through guest posting, digital PR, and genuine outreach is a safer and more sustainable approach than chasing large volumes.
 
Every website is different. Analyze your competitors' backlink growth and build at a similar pace while maintaining high quality.
 
Depend if are quality ones or not as most are low value ..... but if the quality are good and have real traffic then no issue you can get them unlimited
 
There's no ideal number focus on earning a few high quality, relevant backlinks rather than chasing volume. A natural, consistent link building strategy is far more effective than rapid link acquisition.

For me it would be a slow and steady approach. I dont run SEO myself but my friend with an agency usually starts new sites with 10-20 high quality backlinks per month in the beginning. Then slowly ramps it up as the domain gets more authority.

Rushing too many links early often looks unnatural and can hurt more than help. Quality over quantity is key.

I don't think there's fixed safe number of backlinks per month.for a new site, I prefer to begin with 10 to 30 solid relevant links and gradual increase of the site.
Focus on link quality, relevance and referring domain diversity then hitting specific monthly number. I'd rather build 30 quality link than 300 spammy or random ones
