I made a website in a bad niche i guess and looked at all of my competitors backlinks. they are using brand anchor text or fiverr backlinks to rank. Man i am confused, the anchor text is on point but these links are subdomains of subdomains out. In this case are links event needed, i was just going to buy a citation pack.

Every competitor in this link is using fiverr or links that are subdomains blogs. What is the cheapest solution to outrank this? I am trying to avoid owning more domains myself?

I'm surprised you mention bad niche. In my opinion, there's no such thing. The keywords are simply poorly chosen. Verify your competitor's domain age and the content they publish, then include backlinks. If they're really from Fiver, there's a good chance you'll be able to catch up with their SERP results.

That would rather indicate a "good" niche. Low competition, high return.

Hidden PBN links might be at play though.

if competitors are ranking off garbage fiverr links, citations + a handful of decent contextual links probably gets you past them easy

You're immersed in the problem to the extent that you're not seeing the opportunity. If the competitors are able to rank with trash backlinks, you can easily outrank them with quality backlinks. However, you should look at other things at play like topical authority, content quality, branding, site structure, etc. If you manage to beat them, it'll help you establish yourself as an authority in the niche and brings AI citations.

Monsterer makes a good point - it really depends on the niche. Some niches are just easier to rank with fewer links. Check if your competitors are using PBNs or parasite SEO that you might be missing. Often the backlink profile tells half the story.

Good point about checking PBNs. Sometimes the backlink profile you see in tools is only half the picture - competitors might have private networks or parasite pages that don't show up in standard backlink checkers.

Backlinks in this niche feel like everyone did the bare minimum and still passed
If those links are working, the bar’s honestly super low. Just make your content a bit clearer, structure cleaner, then copy a few of those links.
You’re already ahead lol

I'd focus on matching the overall link profile instead of copying every backlink If your content and on page SEO are stronger you may not need as many links to compete.

What do you mean by Fiverr links?

Fiverr is just a marketplace, you could possibly get any link from Fiverr
