Sad News to Share

Based on his past replies, I probably assume that he was a kind guy. Sometimes, you have to be harsh to maintain a balance . That applies to this forum as well as the whole society in general.

I don't know what to say.. I truly cannot believe this.
I've sat with this news all day and it doesn't seem real
Greg mentored me. Back when BHW allowed mentorship, Greg created a thread and said he would mentor 2 people
I was one of the people chosen
He paid for all the tools needed and gave me access to his IM businesses at the time
We would meet on skype everyday and he and other mods at the time would teach without holding back
He literally held my hand through the IM world. All for free!
After the mentorship, he kept up with me. He would check in from time to time to make sure I was okay
His last message to me was about how proud he was of me.
He was like a father figure.
He is one of the most humble, selfless, downright most amazing person I have had the privilege of knowing
I honestly don't know how to process this..
This can't be real..

Sorry to hear the news.
As someone new here I had no interactions with him but appreciated reading his posts when I was lurking.
Seemed like a top guy.

I just finished reading all the posts above and feel amazed at how people from different parts of the world loved and respected BTB. He earned all this love because he has selflessly given it to the community all through these years - without expecting anything back.
When I joined the BHW team, he privately gifted me BHW merch, saying it was his unique way of rewarding people. It was my 'welcome to the team gift' that I will keep with pride and cherish forever.
He would often talk with me about Indian cuisine and wished he could visit India to taste the street food. His words were often filled with praise and gratitude for others. I don't remember if I have seen anyone like him in my real life, either.
When I was a volunteer moderator, I looked at his posts and actions on the forum to learn how to handle issues on BHW.
He was a wise man who had seen enough seasons and been through much in life.
I feel honored to have had the opportunity to work with him.

It is both moving and remarkable to read the posts in this thread and a real testament to BTB's character. It has been difficult to hold this news close until now; timing was carefully considered out of respect to his family who remain constantly in our thoughts.

We were chatting about our trajectories. How we got here. And found so much in common. The way we started varied, but all the IM and SEO and the whole 9 yards was very similar back then.
I thought about this green light in the lake so much since we had this chat, because when I was a kid there was a similar thing where my dad used to take me. We'd fish at night and the light attracted shipshead, croakers and other fish. I related to this story so much and it brought back great memories.
Only difference is I used to eat the fish, while Greg spared their lives and just fed them and enjoyed strolling along to see them. He was a good man.

Sorry for another post, but seeing how many people loved him and how much he loved you all, if you ever need to talk [Not moderator to member], just person-to-person, just let me know, as some of the staff here have done the same with me.
All I can say, as he talked about this, is "I want everyone in BHW to be better off than when they started," - Basstrackerboats told me. All I will say is, be the best you can be, as life is so very short. Love you all and RIP my friend Greg...
