My bet is that WhatsApp will now look for more ways for monetization. May be something like badge for verified profiles.

Yeah, first of all they want to take users of TG from India, this is why telegram was blocked few weeks ago and encounters problems lately.

The primary demographic of Whatsapp is Indian users. It's not that popular outside India and Meta wants to milk it as much as it can. The ads and monetization options are slim as people will find an alternative overnight if they put any restrictions.

• Brazil: ~148 million users
• Indonesia: ~112 million users
• United States: ~98 million users

It's almost like an Indian app with insignificant tier-1 users. Most people incline towards telegram due to privacy and freedom. Whatsapp will try to retain Indian users instead of monetization as it'll be a thing of the past if it loses Indian market. They'll try to capture the next generation and maintain their stronghold in India.

The monetization would be primarily transforming Whatsapp into a UPI app and allowing businesses to engage with their customers through it. The crossover features from Instagram no longer work as almost everyone who uses Whatsapp uses either fb or instagram. So, they need to reinvent the features and UX to retain their market position.

Whatsapp Will have now All Cred Data (Financial Data, Cibil Score, Spending Power of user,etc)
