[2026] Do You Still Collect Email Leads?

There's a behavioral shift happening where younger consumers (younger millennials & Gen Z) don't check their email as often.

They treat text & social media DMs are higher priority. Also alt messaging apps like discord are growing in popularity, even though it's such a shitty user experience.

Yeah, email isnt dead, asking for it too early is. Let people get some value first, then ask. Double opt-in + blocking temp domains should clean up most of the trash signups too.

I think email still works very well, but the psychology around it changed a lot.
People are exhausted from spam, so weak lead magnets and forced opt-ins get ignored instantly now.
The funnels performing best usually offer something highly practical, niche-specific, or instantly actionable.
This is best seen in email newsletters like Substack at the moment. People sign up for longform articles they really want to read, so they're getting something from every email.
